Wooded Hill Nature Trail
The figure-eight path of the Wooded Hill Nature Trail takes you to the highest wooded summit in the Laguna Mountains— 6223-foot Wooded Hill. (Three slightly higher summits are nearby, but they’re entirely brush-covered.) On and near the summit, you can view a wide panorama that encompasses (when the air’s very clear) San Diego, Point Loma, Santa Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, and the Coronado Islands. On the way up, you’ll probably catch sight of the white domes of Mount Laguna Observatory, San Diego State University’s off-campus site for astronomical research and instruction.
