San Gorgonio Trail
Redlands, CA

San Gorgonio Trail
This is one of the most intense hikes you will ever take on a well-developed, highly traveled trail. Many people use this as a training hike for Mount Whitney. The first half-mile after crossing Mill Creek is enough of a proving ground to turn around lots of average folk who think besting this mountain will be an easy task; the trail gains a full thousand feet in that short distance, switchbacking up into the San Gorgonio Wilderness. The first section is rather rocky and you should always check your dog’s pads when walking over rocky terrain. You would not want to get halfway or more along in this trek, only to find out you need to carry your pet out on your shoulders.
