Bird Rock to Indian Village Pebble Beach
The hike to Indian Village begins at Bird Rock, a large offshore rock that is home to numerous shoreline birds, sea lions and harbor seals. The self-guided nature trail follows the coastline towards Seal Rock before crossing the dunes into the Del Monte Forest. The path winds through Monterey pines to Indian Village, a site thought to be used by the Costanoan Indians as a spa before the Spanish missionaries arrived in the 1700s. It is now a large, grassy picnic area with a log cabin.
