Fresno Dome
An unlikely granite summit peering out of the pine and fir forest, with views of the Sierra and the San Joaquin Valley. The hike makes for a fine, short leg-stretcher, and the area offers good rock-climbing. Fresno Dome is a pleasant diversion when driving south out of Yosemite, or for escaping the heat in Fresno, or as a warm-up for adventures to come. It’s the easiest hike in this book. The dome is a great spot for a picnic, and it’s an increasingly popular rock-climbing area.
