Pack small, travel-size containers of basics such as soap, shampoo and deodorant to save space. If you run out on a long trip, it's easy to stock up at a pharmacy while you're traveling.
- Appliances—If you can't leave your appliances at home, pack travel-size hair dryers, irons and electric shavers. For international travel, you'll also need electrical converters/adapters.
- Skin Care—Insect repellent options include DEET-based lotions, natural repellents and protective clothing. Sunscreen protection ranges from SPF 15 to SPF 50. All-purpose soap, such as Dr. Bronner's Liquid Soap, and anti-bacterial hand gel are convenient for travel.
- First-Aid Kit—First-aid kits range from small packets for day trips to complete kits for remote or backcountry travel.
- Dental Care—Toothbrush, toothpaste and floss are other items you won't want to leave home without.
Tip—Don't forget deodorant, a disposable razor, contact lens solution (if you wear contacts) and your prescription drugs, packed in their original containers.
