When FORTUNE magazine measured REI against a broad range of companies across the U.S., we were saluted! In 2010 REI placed #14 among the "100 Best Companies to Work For".

How Winners Are Selected

FORTUNE works with the Great Place to Work® Institute, a global research and consulting firm, to survey randomly selected employees of each organization. Two-thirds of the ranking is based on the Institute’s Trust Index survey, which asks employees their attitudes on management’s credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on our responses to the Institute’s Culture Audit, which includes questions about pay and benefit programs, hiring, communication.
