Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Keen Sandal This is my 4th pair of Keen sandals. I have had two pairs of H2s and one pair of Venice (when they were made in men's sized). I like all of those ... but the Rialto is the best Keen I have had. It feels and looks well built. The removable inner sole adds a little softness, more contour to the foot and presumably can be removed and cleaned (deodorize). I like the rear adjustable Velcro strap which allows for adjustment of how tight it fits. I wan wear it more loosely and slip it on, or tighten it up for a more secure fit such as on longer hikes. It is a bit more expensive than other Keens. As for sizing, for me, I wear the same size as with the other Keen models. Overall I really like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hiking Sandal!! KEEN Rialto sandal is a huge improvement over my worn out KEEN Newports. In terms of sizing, I have found most Keen hiking sandals need to be purchased a ½ size larger, (which is also the case with the Rialto). My biggest complaint with my Newport’s was over time the back strap, (around the ankle), stretched causing the sandal to become loose. Which is not a good thing for stability on the trail or crossing a swift stream. The adjustable hook and loop back strap assures a secure fit for the life of the sandal. Compared to the Newport, the slight smaller toe box offers a lot more comfort while still providing ample protection. For those of us familiar with the KEEN “stink”……. The removable foot bed is brilliant! Pop it out, wash it, and you’re quickly ready to move on smelling like roses. Comfortable right out of the box.... I highly recommend this American Made sandal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My everyday walking shoe I wanted something to have for hiking and needing to cross rivers and for canoeing yet strong enough to be good walking on rocks and roots without having sore feet. These are amazing, I was worried that my feet are still too closed within the sandal but this has become my typical "walk the dog" sandals and I love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from American made goodness I've been a Keen wearer for 10 years and was ready for a new pair. Spotted the "American Built" tag on a display pair and had to give them a try. The biggest differences over the standard Keen river sandal model are the thicker, adjustable heel strap and the cushy footbed. These definitely take more effort to put on because of the heel strap but the tradeoff is a secure feel. I was happy to pay the $20 premium for this model to buy something made in the U.S. My only issue with Keen's is the length of time they take to dry. Even in the dry Arizona heat, they felt cold and clamy for hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around shoe for 3 seasons. Purchased for Thailand where you must remove shoes before entering homes and businesses. Super convenient heel strap exit. With black socks the gargoyle color scheme will almost convince your gf or wife that you aren't wearing socks and sandals. Super cushy hydrophobic footbed and upper. They float! I tied them to my drybag when snorkeling... lost one in the wind...BUT since my buddy had a spare pair of shoes I was able to wear one of my size 9 and one of his size 12... the fit was actually ok with the shock cord all the way tight. A much better fit than anything else available in Thailand!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely comfortable and well built with one flaw Very comfortable sandal and nice to see a product that is well crafted and built to a high standard and locally. Used for summer or fall hiking or around town, they are perfect. However, these should not be advertised as water sandals. The main reason is that they take a very long time to dry and you'll be stuck with wet and cold sandals on any trail that traverses rivers or wet areas. Most of the dampness is retained in the bottom microfiber linter but also in the straps. That is really the only flaw but a big one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High hopes I had high hopes for these since it's the first Keen sandal with a removeable sole. Unfortunately the arch was way too high for me. I wore them around the house for a bit and they were incredibly uncomfortable. I own around 7 pair of other keen styles. I stay in them all summer and love them. I find all the other styles have great arch support for me. Maybe they will consider a lower arch removeable in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Foot bed wears quickly I have been wearing these nearly daily for about five weeks now and while I was initially pleased with the fit and comfort, the foot bed has now started to wear away leaving me with quite black soles of my feet. I have tried to clean the foot bed, but since the bed material is disintegrating, the problem is only getting worse. I bought these to replace a pair of Tevas (which were very similar in design and lasted for three years), but it seems I made a poor choice. One should expect more for a $120 pair of sandals.

Looking into these for my hubs for his birthday and curious about sizing in regards to width. He has wide feet. In Merrell he wears a 9.5W. I've seen many say to size up in general, so would I want a 10 or to go up to a 10.5 because of width?

Asked by: prplturnip
The Rialto Sandals run true to length and slightly wider in the toebox. Based on the information that you provided we would recommend going with a 9.5.

how is the sizing on these compared to say a pair of standard running shoes like New Balance. compared to running shoes, are they the same, larger, or smaller in size respectively..... trying to decide on size, i wear a 12 in new balance.

Asked by: ntula
Most find these sandals to be true to size. We suggest ordering your normal shoe size.

Curious, why are the footbeds removable?  Are they machine washable?  Can you buy replacement footbeds?

Asked by: Adventure Racer
The footbeds on the Rialto Sandals can be removed for easy cleaning or using your own insoles. We would not recommend washing the footbeds in the washing machine. Washing the footbeds by hand using Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel would be a better choice. https://www.rei.com/product/620639/nikwax-footwear-cleaning-gel We do not sell replacement footbeds for the sandals. We recommend contacting Keen directly to see if they can be purchased.

I have had a few pairs of H2 and like them because of the roomy toe box (amongst other things)  One reviewer mentions a slight smaller toe box.  Has anyone tried these and found the toe box too small?

Asked by: RID PDX
I own both H2 and Rialto.  The actual toe box dimensions are actually quite similar, (both very roomy).  The H2 has a bulkier rubber toe guard that raises higher over the front of the sandle.  IMO, the Rialto provides more than sufficient protection but provides better flexibility in the toe area.

How waterproof are these suppose to be? If you are walking through water should they be getting wet and staying wet for a long period of time? Bought a pair and tried them out in the BWCA. They stayed wet from the second they touched water?

Asked by: Justin1099
These sandals have waterproof synthetic leather uppers with a water repellent finish, and should not retain moisture or stay wet for very long once your feet leave the water. We recommend giving us a call at 1-800-426-4840 to discuss further options.

I just bought a pair of the Rialto and I think I'm gonna like them a lot.  I'm wondering when the removable footbed gets wet, does it dry well or does it soak in an take forever to dry?

Asked by: Wirebender06
The footbeds should not absorb much water. Their drying time will be short.
