Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trail shoe I bought this shoes about a month and a half ago and I have been extremely happy with this shoe. I needed a trail shoe that was between the ultra comfort of my Hoka One One Speed goats and Innov8 minimalist shoe. This fit the bill 100%. The have fairly aggressive treads which is nice for muddy trails. The padding is good enough to take on those rocky trails without feeling every rock and root. I was so impressed with this shoe that I have been tempted to buy a second pair. I would highly recommend this she for anyone looking for a neutral shoe with medium padding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Perfect except one thing Love the fit with the large toe box, the smooth and comfy ride which isn't too squishy and is stable. Traction is terrific. Some ground feel but not too much. Problem comes in when I start going uphill. My heel goes tight against the back of the shoe that has a hard/stiff plate with no give, so it gave me blisters in just 3 miles of trails. Thought maybe it was how I tied my laces so tried another way and went for a 6 miler Filled with pain and more blisters. I wanted to love these shoes. Guess the hunt for the best trail shoe goes on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great grip Running in Oregon can be a muddy, slippery affair, so I bought these because of the seriously knobby outsole they have. I have not been disappointed: they hold traction in all but the slickest of mud. As a bonus, after just a short amount of walking on a hard surface, the lugs seem to self clean. I don't have to bang them out before I take them in the house. The fit is a little stiff and I got some heel blisters my first two weeks in them. It doesn't help that there is a seam in that area. However, now they are broken in and I have run as far as 12 trail miles at a time in them. My total mileage is about 60-70 miles in them. They have a more traditional fit like a road shoe: less like some of the more relaxed fits from other trail brands. Overall, one of the best trail shoes I have owned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent rock/root protection BUT... I REALLY like the "rock plate" protection these have for a midfoot rock/root strike. Never really felt any misplaced steps on the jagged stuff, which was nice. You definitely give up some flexibility for that, though. Also, this isn't a zero drop shoe if that's your thing. 4mm isn't much, but it's worth noting. However, they were a bit tight on my foot (not a size issue) and the sides of the sole are sharp if you graze a foot against your opposing ankle when navigating some slippery/technical trails. Ultimately, I think I'll return these in favor for the Alta Lone Peak 2.5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pair of shoes I've got about 130 mostly-trail miles in these. No major problems. They're super comfy walking around town too. Slight hot spots around my Achilles tendons when going up hill for long distances (10+ mile climbs), but no blisters developed. These shoes also perform great on rocky trails (aka the Trail Rail Run in Montana, where the whole 30k course was extremely rocky). Would definitely recommend. I've got a 50 mile race in a month and I'm going to buy a 2nd pair so I can throw on a fresh pair at the halfway point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great feel, but not durable I've owned two pairs of these, and both developed holes in the toe area in less than two months of running. It's a shame, because otherwise these are great shoes. Very responsive, good grip, and the rock guard really helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bomber shoe for gnar trails These shoes are perfect for the trails in Colorado whether it's dry, wet, snowy, or muddy. I put in about 45-50 miles per week. I had some very minor blisters around the achilles region, but it toughened up after a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trail best shoe Never have I felt such a great shoe, made the trail feel safe like the road. Had good feedback from the while providing plenty of cushion, the material they have under the foot is incredible. It kinda reminds me of packing peanuts, that provide some serious bounce

What's the best way to clean them if they've been mud-soaked? Can I put them in the washer?

Asked by: Dnaman
NO, the washer beats them up and will damage the shoe.

Would this shoe do well if hiking Half Dome in Yosemite?

Asked by: drynso
I have run 50K and 30k ultras in these shoes in Oregon. I have also backpacked some really tough trails with these shoes including snow fields and mud. These are great shoes for both. I'm doing the JMT this month and these are my shoe of choice. In my experience is this is a great trail shoe.

How well do these shoes drain water? I'm not talking running through a puddle. I mean running with them submerged. My Saucony Nomad TRs dumped water very well.

Asked by: hoodlumofmercy
We have heard feedback that these shoes drain very well after they have been completely submerged.
