Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome material, the fit has changed drastically I bought two pairs of these a few years ago and I love them. The cut was roomy and I felt like they were great for active trips. They feel comfortable next to the skin and repel water like a champ - even after several washes. Like most synthetics, they don't breathe as well as cotton and the thick cut of the material is great for durability, but it makes them a tad on the warm side. However, they recently changed the way these pants fit - a lot. If you are into skinny jeans, then you will like them. If you don't care about looking like a hipster and actually want to wear pants that have an active cut and allow freedom of movement outdoors, you're out of luck.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I want to love these This pant is great on so many levels. I have the Stretch Zion shorts, and the material is surprisingly durable. Love the pocket placement and the fact that it has belt loops. The fit is strange though. The 33x32 was too short and was nearly leotard tight around the thigh and rear. The 34x32 was about an inch and a half too long and fit like 80's baggy pants around the thigh and waist. It didn't make sense how there was such a huge variance in fit between 1 inch waist size. Couldn't get a size to work, so I ended up returning them. Love the shorts though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy movement, lightweight, looks good I bought first pair at REI in-store, then exchanged online for the perfect size. Because these are too good of pants not to have the exact fit! Any movement you do there's no restriction from the pants, which for me is rare to not have some restriction somewhere in the pants. The fit perfectly and look sharp; I've gotten compliments on the look of them. And they have just enough stretch in the material. I'm about to order a second pair in the charcoal color. I feel like I could wear them as a casual pants at work and directly to the trail or for climbing. Pretty much the perfect pants I'd say!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all round pant This is a pretty nice all round pant. I wear them for a lot of my day to day activities including work, meetings and going out with friends. I also wear them for hiking and other activities. They are really versatile. I have 2 complaints. 1. the material catches dirt a little more than I would prefer. 2. the crotch is cut quite low which leads them to be overly spacious when sitting down. Overall I really like them but these are 2 issues I noticed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great climbing pants! I bought these last winter and have fallen in love with them. They're stretchy in the crotchal region, durable and best of all you don't need a belt. Also, they're great looking pants so I can wear them to the climbing gym and leave them on for the rest of the night if I decide to go out. On the downside, they don't breathe very well on warmer days even if you roll them up into shants. However, there are the shorts version of these that would take care of this problem. Ten outta ten!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used to be perfect I have worn these pants for years and with the recent size changes there is no good fit for me. I am wearing, right now, the MedX32L and the waist and length are perfect. The sizing changed recently and by following their directions I measured out at 33" waist and 32" inseam. Pants arrived today and are an inch too long. Guess what, the waist sizes are available in 1 inch increments but not the length. Must have switched factories. I am sad to say I am now on the hunt for replacement pants. I will just have this current pair hemmed but won't be ordering any in the future. Perfect material, look and color but just took away my size and at the price I just can't justify having to hem each pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits women! I was on my way OUT of the store, disgusted that none of the women's pants fit because they were either too short, too long, or too low-waisted. I passed the men's dept and noticed the specific sizing for waist and length. Tried on these pants and was thrilled. They fit to perfection, and I'm curvy. No altering needed. And the quality is amazing. My new strategy for buying hiking pants: head to the men's dept!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Multi-Purpose Pants with One Major Flaw First, let me say that I own two pairs of these pants because I loved the first one so much, I decided to get a second one! They are super functional with useful pockets and the built in waist belt. Awesome choice for flying! Also great for every-day wear whether you are climbing, hiking, walking, doing yard work -- whatever! The stretchy fabric makes it a really great active pant that allows you to move. That said, it has one really fatal flaw in my opinion: the fabric doesn't breathe! It's pretty much only suitable for chilly weather, IMO, since you will be sweating like crazy in your crotch region in any type of warm weather, even if you roll up the legs (that might make it a bit worse since it traps the heat inside). In the late fall, winter, and early spring, these pants get a lot of love from me, but once it's mid-late spring, they get too hot to wear.

Can a belt be worn to accommodate the wearing of a knife?

Asked by: Cekum
While the Men's Stretch Zion Pants have a belt already built in, another belt can be used to carry a knife.

Does the cargo pocket easily accommodate an iPhone? I have the shorts equivalent of these pants, and the pocket is too small. I disagree with the comment about breathability. You won't find a more breathable synthetic material anywhere.

Asked by: Bart Scrivener
The pocket does fit smaller iPhones, but it does not fit larger models.

I am shopping for a great pair of hiking pants for my husband. He tried on the Prana Brion pants and loved the fit and feel but i noticed these Nd wondered how the two styles differ in terms of features and fit?

Asked by: Grace
Both pants use the same stretch fabric and have a similar fit. The main difference is the pocket styling with the cargo pockets on Stretch Zion pants.

What does "size" indicate for these pants? Waist measurement? The product description already indicates 32" inseam. I'm looking for a 31" waist and a 32" inseam. Is this available?

Asked by: colluvial
The waist size is selected when ordering. This is the 32" inseam.

Would REI be willing to begin carrying odd-numbered waist sizes in the prAna Stretch Zion pants? I wear a 33x34 in these pants and would like to buy them through REI, but you only offer even-numbered waist sizes!

Asked by: Mike
As of March 2017, we do not have plans to carry these pants in odd numbered sizes.
