Before spending this kind of money on something, I wanted to make sure it would be multi-functional. I own a few other Yeti products, so it was obvious to me that this would be high quality and perform well at keeping drinks hot/cold (I figure mostly cold). But I was attracted to the ultra-wide-mouth lid. That's really my favorite part. I can easily fit my large fist in the opening. As a father of a newborn, I knew this would be perfect for warming up baby bottles on road trips -- half filling it with hot water and dropping in a frozen bag of breast milk to warm it up, and closing the lid. And when it arrived, I realized it looked straight-up *elegant.* It's the perfect size for chilling a bottle of wine. If I was at a party and saw a bottle of wine chilling in this sucker, I'd have thought it was a specialty item purchased from Williams Sonoma. I can't wait to take this on my next car camping trip and have a weekend's worth of ice water without having to grab handfuls of the dirty cooler ice. Finally, I love the material of the lid. The cap is tapered and the magnet not *so* strong that it pinches your fingers. I was afraid the magnet would be overly powerful and snap my fingers if I wasn't careful. Really happy with this. My kid will probably take it to college.
After over 2 months this jug has been Awesome! I purchased a holder with strap to carry everywhere, also a couple 5 gallon jugs that I fill up every 2 weeks or so to keep this one topped off. Also, a set of extra-long rubber straws that I just stick into cap and pops out when ready to drink, really convenient to just place on my desk and drink when arms too sore to lift this monster but can still drink normally if wanted. Takes a bit of force to open, but with the holder I bought to grip and loosening cap I haven’t had any issues. Also retains cold water very well. If you get, recommend getting the extras I got, makes it little more convenient.
Was the first at my local REI store to pick one of these up! Same excellent quality one would expect from Yeti. Large opening for easy cleaning/ice loading. The mag cap is genius! The handle feels solid and comfortable as well!
I purchased this when it first became available. I've been crewing at ultramarathons for many years. No more lugging ice in a small cooler around. This Yeti is making my life so much easier. Recently used this at a 100K and I was able to put ice cold water and ice into my runners resevoir from the same cannister. Had enough to share. I love the wide mouth lid; I can put small items into the cannister (box juice or coconut water , use the pour spout lid (perfect size!) and the magnet to keep the cap from getting lost--a stroke of genius for us klutzes. When I'm not crewing I have a gallon of chilled water on my road trips. Thank you Yet!
I work in construction and have been using cheap plastic water thermos for years, they end up breaking within a few months and look like junk after a few weeks. I was hesitant to spend so much for a water jug but I have no regrets. This thing looks great still after months of daily use, I love that it is metal inside and out , the lid is oldtoc but it is very high quality and very thick. Very much like the magnet feature for the cap as well. It is easy to drink directly from but also pours very nicely if you want to be civilized and pour into a cup. I think it is worth the money 100% and that is coming from someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of disposable income,I am very happy with my purchase!
My husband is the “water keeper” when we travel, and we didn’t have a decent jug, so I got him this for his birthday. On the first outing with the Yeti, we filled it with nugget ice to take camping. While we needed to add additional water, we still had ice, three days later. The wide mouth makes it easy to fill, and the magnetic cap is simple genius. (Yes, it would have been lost or misplaced by now.) How often do you get a product that exceeds expectations? You will only have to buy it once. Thank You YETI!
Before buying the jug i was looking to see how long boiling water will last unable to find info. I tested it my self 16 hrs later i checked and water was still hot. I was happy with my purchase i will recommend it. Specially if you need cold or hot water to last for a long time...
Keeps contents cold for a long time. I primarily use the Yeti Jug for day adventures with my dog. In the Texas heat, we need a lot of water! Yes, it's really expensive to be a jug, but I rationalized it by telling myself I won't have to stop to buy bottles of water for road trips! It works great, so far I've left ice water in it for 2 days and it was still cold. The magnetic cap holder is very convenient.
I purchased this item for carrying hot water during outdoor winter activities here in Alaska. First of all this thing is built like a tank. Over built would be an understatement. Within a few minutes of owning it I boiled a gallon of water and filled it to the top. I stuck it out on my porch where the outside temperature was -25F. After about 4 hours I grapped it and brought it in the house. After seeing frost on the outside of the jug I doubted that it had kept my water warm. To my suprise I poured a glass and was shocked to see the water was too hot to drink. Hotter than an average cup of coffee. I have no doubt that It will serve its intended purpose for many years.
I ended up returning it. It does keep cold water cold and hot water hot. And I liked the magnetic cap. The problem was that water would leak out where the big lid screws onto the jug, no matter how hard I tightened the lid. Every time I tipped the jug to pour water into a cup, a huge pool of water would leak out and I would have to wipe it up. This was especially frustrating in the car. Eventually I said to myself, "What's the point of having this if it's just going to create a mess?" Definitely not worth $130. I've bought a lot of stuff from Yeti, this was the first Yeti product I wasn't satisfied with.
