May 30, 2015Nice features but doesn't quite work for me
Read More Darn. I really wanted to like this, and it was such a good price through the Outlet. I chose it for the pocket, the bungee cord to carry a shirt or jacket, and the fact that it comes with 10-oz bottles. I'm only 5' 5" and 130lb, so with the center pocket, the bottles sit fairly wide on me and the tops of these taller bottles get in the way of my elbow swing. It needs to ride very low on my hips to prevent this, but unfortunately, there are no grippers or silicone ribs of any kind to prevent the fabric from slipping. I had tried to use this for a long run yesterday. I wore a long-ish, technical (i.e., slick) fabric shirt, so of course the belt had to be secured over the top of the shirt, but within 20 steps it had slid completely off my hips. I tried to tighten it and start again, but it didn't stay down at all. I turned back, took off the belt, and carried one of the bottles in my hand instead. I'm going to see if I can find a shirt/shorts combo that works and may also put some thin strips of silicone caulk on the back part to give it some grip. A friend showed me her belt (another brand) and it has grippy beads of rubber or silicone all along the fabric part. Smart. I might also replace the 10-oz bottles with the standard 7 oz so they don't stick up so far. Perhaps if it's secured higher around my waist it won't slide up -- although that might make it harder to reach behind and grab a bottle. Arrgh!
