The top of the boot is way too small - I have narrow feet and need to work unacceptably hard to get these on or off even though they are the right size. I buy a lot of stuff at REI and am generally very pleased. I bought these online which was a big mistake. I'd be surprised if anybody could possibly be pleased with this product. Deserve zero stars. -

Read More Luckily I only paid $70 for these through 'WOOT' because they are CHEAP! They may be worth $20. The leather is thin , the sole and lower are thin and there is NO arch support. Also, the top of the liner is tight and makes removing and putting on the boot VERY difficult.
Read More Amazon and other rating sites for this boot cite the two REI one-star ratings, that say the boot runs narrow and is of low quality. Other 4 and 5-star ratings come from other sites and are a bit vague and suspect. I bought my boots on sale at an REI store much cheaper than they are online. Since I am a woman, the narrowness of the inner liner was perfect for me. The bottom of the outer sole is very well-constructed for traction in snow. The inner liner and/or the boot without a liner seem to need an insert foot pad to cushion ones foot. Both the REI clerk and I thought the foot pad had been removed. (So I got them even cheaper ;-) )These may have been returned from buying online, so there was no way to check if they are all like this, but from other reviews they must all need foot pads... For everyone I'd recommend adding foot -pad inserts. The current style is to NOT supply an arch support, because it is better for your foot, but the boot without its liner DOES have a bit of arch, despite one of the reviews. If I were a man I'd buy a polar-fleece boot liner to use with these, instead of the liners these come with, to overcome the narrowness of the existing liner, and for added warmth. (Target has the best quality and price I've seen, though dark pink may not suit a man. ;-) ) .For a light-weight, warm, packable boot, that doesn't use up your airline weight allotment with their heftiness, nor tire your legs with their heaviness, these are of GREAT quality and PERFECT, except for not having foot pads, and exactly what they were designed for. The problem I have in Atlanta is it has not snowed for the past two years, and as warm as it is getting, it may never snow here again, which is not Teva nor REI's fault. So I will return these if they let me, even though I bought them without my member card...and they were SUCH A DEAL!
