Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for bike commuting! This pack has replaced several backpacks because it's so comfy and versatile. I use it for bike commuting and weekend trips. For commuting, it holds my computer and a change of clothes and fits securely to my back while I'm riding. It also has lots of intelligently placed pockets so you can stash things like phones, keys, water, jewelry, pens, notebooks etc. For weekend trips, you can stuff this thing silly and it's very sturdy. And as a bonus, it's a nice looking pack so you don't look like a 12 year old heading to the school bus. I purchased it for full price and it's worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect School Bag! I am a rising Junior in High School. I had an older version of the Recon before purchasing this one, and it was so great my older brother who is a Senior in College stole it! Before purchasing it I wanted to know how many thing it could fit, so for you high schoolers out there : the recon fits 2 one inch binders, 5 one subject notebooks, 1 three subject notebook, and 6 folders in JUST the main pocket. In the organizational pocket, I carry my agenda, calculator and pencil case, as well as a few doo-dads for school. I love this bag and recommend it to any student!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I had a North Face Backpack all throughout High School and I could honestly still be using it for College. Now you might be asking "well if you could still be using it why buy another one?" well curious reader, I thought it would be appropriate to get a more "usable" color. My old backpack is brown, pink and purple while my new sophisticated backpack is all black and I think its the best decision I've made all year. This backpack has TONS of space, more than I could ever imagine. It feels even more durable than my old one which is so nice. I would recommend this backpack for anyone, school related or not, it's worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Investment of my College Career I purchased this backpack in the beginning of my second semester of college and I feel as though it has made a world of difference in my college experience. Okay, I may be exaggerating, but as someone who can almost exclusively enjoy something only if it is organized, this backpack has helped me enjoy school so much more. It's durable enough to carry my 15 hour load on my back without any seams ripping or zippers breaking and it's variety of pockets make it easy to carry my wallet, post it notes, keys, pens, etc. I no longer carry a purse! This backpack was a wonderful investment, truly worth more to me than I think North Face would ever charge for it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wore Out Fast, Not Worth It Previously had a Recon, in middle school into high school and loved it. When it was finally time to get a new one, I wanted the same backpack. It was comfortable and fit everything I needed it to while protecting my laptop. Bought a new one < 2 years ago that was the model before the redesign and the back has already started to rip and show the foam underneath near the base of the backpack. As a poor college student, this was an expensive purchase for me and I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the new backpacks and will probably need to buy a new one shortly. It will probably not be another North Face.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Backpack Love the new design features and the color. I got the dark gray with pink(ish) straps, its beautiful! I use this backpack for school mostly but also for our weekend adventures. Its hiked to the top of mountains, roughed it camping in the wilderness, put up with my boys over-filling it with rocks, sticks and other outdoor treasures and still looks great. I had a previous North Face backpack that was great to the end, so I'm hoping this one will last and hold up just as well. Its a little stiff and heavy but after wearing and breaking it in a bitt, its more comfortable. Probably not a lot I can do to fix how heavy it is, but hopefully that just means its durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended for all college students!! Im a nursing student that no longer lives on campus which means my whole day needs to fit in my backpack. We have to have so much with us for just a day that I had to get a larger bag. This is perfect for holding all my books, snacks, laptop and my stethoscope fits well in the smaller tablet holder. Its taller and allows you to put everything in and when you zip it up you don't have to worry about it not being able to zip. The amount of pockets it provides it wonderful to keep everything organized! Its amazing how comfortable it is walking long distances with about 25 plus pounds on your back. Any college student would benefit from this backpack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I use this product for school but will also be using it for all my travel/hiking/adventure needs. My old backpack was hurting my back everyday when I would walk to class. I was hesisitant to buy a backpack that was this expensive but after wearing it for a while now, I can tell you that it is worth it. My back feels so much better already. It is padded but it also more rigid (in a great way) than my old backpack. My only complaint about this backpack is that I feel like I can not fit quite as much in it as I could my old one. I love all the compartments it has and I feel like it has led me to be more organized for school.

The back seems super stiff and not like it would be comfortable to carry. Does it loosen up a bit with use?

Asked by: sarahbrown29
This pack has a rigid divider towards the back of the pack to protect a laptop which will not become softer over time.

Is this pack water resistant?

Asked by: isap
The material on the Recon Daypack is water resistant. However, the lack of any seam tape and amount of zippers gives this pack only very limited resistance to water overall.

Will the side pocket hold a 32oz hydroflask without falling out?

Asked by: Toni1215
The stretch mesh that the two water bottle pockets are made from allows secure holding of many different size water bottles, including a 32 oz. Hydro Flask.

I saw a friend with one of these recently (only it wasn't the "womens" specific one) and it had the proper "pockets and holes" so one could carry a hydration pack. I don't see that anywhere on this. Can it or can it not carry a hydration pack?

Asked by: Outdoor Colorado
The Recon Daypack does have a hydration port. The laptop sleeve doubles as a hydration reservoir sleeve.
