Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carry all my sport climbing gear I have used this bag for about 6 months. I really like this bag. I put my rope in a tarp and put it on the bottom. Then I put all my harness in its bag inside then my quickdraws, slings and lockers then my shoes over that then my helmet. Can still fit the guide book in the side zip pocket and my headlamp and random important things like keys and wallet on the top pocket. I don't really use the rope top carry but the system works out pretty well. I think they key is to pack it correctly and you won't have such an issue with how soft the bag is.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice design, incredibly uncomfortable I want to preface this review by saying that I love Patagonia and own lots of other great stuff from them. This is the first of their products I've ever had a problem with. I bought this bag because it is just the right size and price point for carrying just my sport climbing gear on day trips. Being able to open up the back is also a really useful feature. Unfortunately, this bag gave me terrible back pain after wearing it on only two climbing trips, for a 1 and a 1.5 mile approach. I think it's because the bag is so soft and unstructured that all your gear sinks to the bottom and bulges out on the sides, which seems like a design flaw. The rope strap on top is also kind of useless again because of how shapeless the bag is. This bag might be useful for someone who only carries their helmet, shoes and harness, but if you have any actual gear I definitely don't recommend this bag.
