Read More Had this product for nearly a year. On the whole it works well with my Garmin or with phone apps - except the Mio Global app, which is pretty awful (and won't even let me register my product so I can't get firmware updates!). The main problem is occasional short drops in heart rate to under 80, then after a minute or so a jump back to 140+ where it should be. Its more comfortable than chest straps, if you are willing to accept these short periods of poor accuracy.

Read More I have used this device for a few months now. I run with a Garmin Forerunner that needs a chest strap and I just don't like those. This device is very easy to use and is accurate. The display is bright enough so that older eyes can easily see it which is starting to be tough with the Garmin. But, as others have said, the app and data transfer need to be improved. The app does a decent overall job of a few data points but some of us would like to delve into the details and therefore need to be able to download the data into a CSV file - like the Garmin - or possibly an online account - like runkeeper. Another strange behaviour is that if you start an exercise on the device, the app does not keep up. But if you start on the app, then the device is just transmitting HR. I think it should be continuous syncing. But the major reason I bought this is for an accurate HR and it does that very well.

Read More I bought Apha 2 recently. I am very pleased with accurate measurements, but app is lacking key things like: - percentage or time spent in heart rate zones during workout ( there is just most frequent zone, and time for it) - data needed for this are available, it is just thing of showing it in app -daily/weekly/monthly graphic view of activity / avg heart rate/ avg speed for the activity ( to compare it, and see how you are becoming better)

Read More I too am a heart attack survivor. Bought Alpha 2 after enrolling in local Cardio Rehab program based on Internet reviews extolling its accuracy. Took me a while to get used to it (Mio, your User Manual needs improving) but after several months I have gotten used to it. At first didn't like the app on my iPhone 5, but that too has improved in my estimation. One concern: the Bluetooth connection keeps failing ever since the latest update of IOS. Easy enough to get back, but irritating nonetheless. Oh, and yes, the backlight is flaky. Overall tho, an excellent product.
