Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable, Practical, Great Design I LOVE these shoes. They're super comfortable with the added torsional flex (both on and off the bike) while maintaining good stiffness in the pedal contact area. The insoles are also improved, much more substantial when compared to those in the M088 which they replace. The shoe straps are comfortable, cinch down very easily and hold. The middle strap, which was noted by another reviewer to be too long, causing it to strike the cranks, can be cut to accommodate various feet sizes. Shimano has placed two grooves on each of the two straps where you may cut them with a pair of ordinary scissors, shortening them. It took me approximately one minute, being careful, leaving a professional appearance. The tongues are comfortably padded, supple enough and don't pinch my feet, which has been a problem for me in previous shoes. The only caveat I suggest goes to compromised compatibility with my brand new Shimano Sh-56 multi-directional spd cleats. There was significant vertical play with each pedal stroke, no matter what binding tension I used on my Shimano XTR 985 pedals. Couldn't get rid of the play so I switched to the Sh-51 lateral release cleats, which are less thick and provided a secure, highly functional attachment. I do miss the multi-directional release of the sh-56 though, but at this point I have become very proficient with the Sh-51 cleats and am quite happy. I highly recommend these shoes and commend Shimano on the new design.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loosened up with miles I’ve run these shoes 1500 documented miles in one year. For the first 700-800 miles the initial fit was quite good for my wide foot. (14E) During the rest of the 1500 I miles I started working on my back and up-stroke peddling which cause the upper shoe to stretch and now I swim in them on any up-stroke. The straps bottom at the transition from felt to the hoop of the Velcro preventing me from tightening the front of the shoe. These shoes would best be used by weekend rider. (Would not recommend this product to the people I ride with)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First clipless shoes Very comfortable and comes in larger sizes.. sometimes hard to find in bike shoes. Another reviewer mentions the center strap brushing the crank and coming loose. The center strap is fairly clearly marked to be cut to fit, so that once you get the strap tightened, a pair of scissors will trim the extra off the end to keep the strap the same length as the velcro on the shoe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Brand, Poor Design I own a pair of the SH r107LL shoes for road cycling and I am very satisfied with THAT pair, so I was looking forward to these. I bought them to go with SPD cleats. The problem is the center strap faces in towards the pedal, every time one pedals, the strap brushes against the pedal arm and loosens. On the wet weekend I wore them, dirt and mud got under the straps and rendered them useless and flapping. Shimano usually is high quality, so I'm kind of surprised at this error.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable shoe for riding or walking The shoes have a soft outer sole that make them great for walking while off the bike. The cinch locking mechanism makes for a snug fit for your foot. I would recommend these shoes for general riding or touring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable shoes, good fit. I like these shoes. Primarily wanted to comment on the lower ranked reviews that complained about the middle strap hitting the cranks. This is possible but is easily fixed by trimming off the end of the strap. The strap actually has a couple segments on the end like this was the designed to trim off. I took off both segments and strap fits perfectly on Velcro with no chance of hitting the crank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort and easy to put on Some shoes are stylish and are not comfortable even when they're in your size. Not the case here. Biking with these is very comfortable and clip into and out of my Shimano M540 pedals in a split second. Though designed for mountain biking, clearly great for road biking. Yes, you can walk with these and not break your neck or feel as though you're on ice skates.
