Read More I bought the Forerunner 15 with the heart rate monitor and was fairly satisfied with its functions. It could use more flexibility in setting a virtual pace (longer pace options). I was disappointed it didn't provide average heart rate after tracking, which all other heart monitor I've owned provide. Also, the Garmin specs said the battery lasts 8 hours in tracking, but I found it lasted just over 4 hours and 30 min in two separate uses. If 4:30 tracking is enough for you, it works great. REI took it back with no hassles, as I expected they would. -

Read More I was looking for something that would monitor my heart rate in any activity I did (crossfit/ snowbarding/ hiking/ racquetball) , as well as distance traveled and it does the trick. It is easy to use. The only setback that I discovered was that it couldn't use GPS when I was indoors, which was understandable. -

Read More I did a lot of research when looking into a GPS watch. I narrowed it down to Garmin, and from there it was really between going all out and getting the Fenix 2, or to take it a little easier (on the wallet) and get FR15. My ultimate decisions to get the FR15 really came down to a few things: I'm not an extreme enough runner/athlete to warrant purchasing the God-like Fenix 2, with all of it's infinite power, I have small wrists and wanted a smaller unit, and I wanted something that would be easy to use. The FR15 delivered. It gets me through a run, tells me if I'm at, ahead of, or behind pace, show me my heart rate and what zone I'm in, gives me the lap information, and (when plugged into Garmin Connect) provides me with fun to look at charts and graphs for my runs (a "must" in my book). The only reason I'm not giving this an "Excellent" review is because it doesn't have Bluetooth sync capabilities. Which means every time I want to upload my runs to Garmin Connect I have to turn on my laptop and sync the device via USB. Not the worst thing in the world, but come on Garmin, this technology isn't anything new and I think it would have really bumped this device up into a different category. Other than that I love my FR15. Oh and the step counter works great too! -
Jun 27, 2014Great Exercise ToolRugged, accurate, and incredibly useful. Took it out in a downpour and had no problems. Monitors heart rate, pace, time.
Read More Most of my running friends have Garmins. I have been a runner for more than a decade but have only recently purchased one for myself. I used to rely on my friends' data to fill out my running logs but have gotten more serious about my training and wanted to analyze the data more granularly. The software interface of Garmin Connect is great adn I really like having it upload with minimal input from myself. It allows me to set goals and be more accountable. I can also track my progress more easily. I also am using myfitnesspal.com to drop a few pounds and I really like the automatic integration with that online app to record exercise and calories burned. All in all - I like it a lot and would certainly purchase it again.
