Read More Excellent. This was an invaluable training aid to get ready for a recent marathon. The mileage and pace features are good motivators during the run and the ability to download and review afterwards is a great help as well. I wear the watch constantly and track steps during those days when I am not in heavy training but still want to monitor my activity levels -

Read More My Forerunner 205 from 2008 died a few months ago, and I decided to replace it with this watch. It's great! I'm a medium distance runner (20-30 miles a wk) and this watch can provide everything I need. It's quick to pick up GPS signal, if I want to do tempo or speedwork, I can just toggle between 2 screens, no big deal. You can customize what stats you want to see on the main display. (pace, time, distance, etc). I don't really use it for the footstep count, purely for running, and it's been everything I need. I don't use the website either, Garmin connect. Hope it lasts as long as my last Garmin did, no doubt it will. -

Read More I bought this watch about a year ago and I love it. I trained and ran a marathon using my Forerunner. By the end of the marathon, it read 26.47 miles, which sounds about right when you take into account moving side to side on the course. I especially like the average pace feature when doing long runs. I also use the step tracker daily and that too seems to be pretty accurate. As for durability, this watch has survived a few snorkeling trips and tons of drops and hits. The only issue I had in the year I've owned it is having to restart it once because the step tracker stopped counting steps. The issue was resolved immediately when I turned the watch back on and no data was lost. Overall, a great GPS/step counter watch! -

Read More I received this for Christmas and it has since been returned to REI. I found the gps on this watch to be difficult to bring up. I also needed a % of max heart rate function which it does not seem to have. Geared for runners, it could be good, but for my needs (primarily cycling), just didn't fit the bill. Will keep looking. 5 stars for REI's great return policy and helpful staff. -
Mar 30, 2015Great watch! This watch is easy to set up and to use.The data is accurate and the information that can be retrieved when synced with a computer is incredible. A must-have!

Read More We do a lot of endurance cycling and hiking. The literature claims 8 hours battery life. Not so, if using a HR monitor. More like 5-6 hours. If you are not paying close attention and the battery dies, you lose the current activity data. Also, the watch cannot be recharged while a recording is active. For example, if you are doing a 8 hour activity and the battery runs low at 4 hours, you can't pause the activity, recharge, and resume the activity. This watch will work well for short duration activities, but the battery life between charges is really poor.
Read More I have relied on Garmin products for all of my activity tracking in the past and when it came time to buy a new watch I purchased the Garmin Forerunner 15. It was visually appealing and user-friendly. My trouble with it came after having the watch a couple of months I noticed that the GPS tracking would take an unusually long time to locate satellites (upwards of 10 minutes). In addition, once the GPS did locate the satellites, the tracking feature would be off - one mile I was tracked to be running a 10 minute mile the next I was running a 5 minute mile (including a half mile sprint across the Hudson River!). All this aside, when the watch worked well it was fine, however, when I used it to track laps, the TOTAL distance, not LAP distance was shown, so I had to mentally keep track of the lap distance. In the end, I concluded that the watch I purchased was faulty and will give Garmin the benefit of the doubt.
