Read More Just finished hiking the Long Trail with Thor, 70lbs. (part shepherd, elk-hound and malamute) for the last 22 days. The pack is exceptional. It never slipped, the handle was indispensable many time over, and it is rugged. Thor never hesitates to bound into the dense underbrush chasing grouse, moles, squirrels, whatever catches his eye. This pack is indestructible. The compartments easily hold a 6 days supply of food ( 4-1/2 cups a day), along with his leash, bowl, treats and toothbrush. The pack usually weighed 10-15 lbs, and never slipped. Oh, did I mention he often went swimming with it on, and it still did not budge. Thor never chafed because the pack has plenty of padding protecting him. I wish the pack was waterproof, but you cannot have everything. I originally bought the Ruff Wear pack, but then realized I had to bend Thor's leg and he had to step into it, I quickly returned it. The K9 pack quickly fits over your dogs head and attaches around him with three straps. -

Read More I bought this pack because it was the cheapest one REI had. My wife and I tested this with our dog around our neighborhood a few times, but when we took her on her first hike with the pack, the front straps kept coming loose. It wasn't a huge deal, but we had to keep tightening the straps every mile or so. If it weren't for the straps not staying tight, this pack would have gotten the job done. Not sure if every pack is like this or if it was just ours, but we're going to try the Ruffwear pack now and see how that goes. -

Read More We went with this pack as a cheaper alternative to the other dog packs on REI.com. With 5 star reviews, we thought we were getting a great deal. The pack looks really comfy for our dog who is a mutt and whose body doesn't always work with standard size harnesses. The problem was- we were fitting it to her for the first time and one of the buckles broke. We've been using a pack found at a garage sale for $2 and never had a problem with it or the buckles which look flimsier than these. We really wanted to support this local outdoor supplier, but question the overall quality. -

Read More This is my dogs second pack. I got him (68 pound dog) a REI pack last year and I thought it worked great, until I got this pack. My dog can run and jump very easy on the trail with this pack. Was a great buy!!! Plus, it comes in red!
Read More I bought this when my dog outgrew his REI brand dog pack. The straps take some adjusting, and I sometimes have to readjust them during a long backpacking trip, but it holds more than the previous one and my dog doesn't seem to mind wearing it. Overall a good buy, especially now since the price has dropped since I bought it!
