Feb 18, 2012Buy this for your child first
Read More This is the best item to buy first if you are considering trying wool activewear for your kids. Kids grow fast. Good quality wool clothing is expensive. This item is both cheaper to buy (less wool, fewer seams to sew) and also can be worn all year 'round if your kids love it. Speaking for my kids, they had some of the "other big wool brand" already, and were not excited when I announced I'd bought Icebreakers for them for this winter. HOWEVER, trying on their new tanks, both kids said it was as soft as cotton and willingly agreed to wear it NEXT TO THEIR SKIN. We've had a mild (warm) winter this year, so if the wool were going to itch, it would've happened already. We use these tanks in one size up as a layer OVER cotton pj's to keep them warm all night (but avoid washing the wool very often.) We use these as undershirts for school where it can be cold during their two or more outdoor recesses each day, but stuffy in the classroom. Sometimes, if my older son argues he doesn't want to wear a sweater, he'll put his tank on like a sweater-vest on top of a turtleneck. Hey, if he's warm, I don't argue the aesthetics too much.
