Mar 1, 2016Not for meLooked good quality, but were too big even though I ordered a half size down. The crease where they bent to allow my toe to flex was also too far back on the foot not over the tarsal joints

After about a week of wearing them the leather has started coming apart from the sole just behind the rubber toe cap on the inside of both boots. This is rather disappointing, but am hoping the local REI team can help me mend the boots. -

Read More They were comfortable and waterproof for a few weeks, but the rubber toe caps on both boots started peeling off just a few days ago. Of course, this lets water leak in, and my feet get soggy and cold after a few hours of walking. I saw another reviewer complain about this but believed it was just a fluke. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Luckily I bought from REI, so I'm going to return them when the new pair of (Sorel Paxson) boots I bought gets here. Side note, these also aren't very well insulated, but that wasn't really something that was advertised. -

Read More If you know anything about hiking, you already know these aren't hiking boots. What they are is a pair of good looking, rugged and waterproof, boots. If you keep that in mind, and aren't going to do any real hiking, they'll meet your needs. I work for the Park Service and spend half my time in the office and the other half in the field or at least outside. If I'm going on a long hike, or spending a day in the field, I'll wear some real hiking boots. However, for my everyday, these do a good job of keeping my feet dry and warm and transition well to being back at the office. But, they could be better. First, the top lace hooks need to be set lower so that the laces don't get as easily untied. Second, the tongue gusset could have come up higher to make it less prone snow or water leaking into the boot. This became an issue during the last blizzard. Not only were the boots continuously getting untied but the snow would get packed under the tongue. Finally, they tend to be slippery on laminate tiles if they're a little wet. -

Read More I bought these before reading the reviews and freaked out a little after seeing all the negative comments. However, even though I have only owned these for a couple weeks, they have held up great. A couple days ago I went snowmobiling in them in the morning and afternoon, and then wore them to a fancy restaurant that night. They proved to be completely waterproof and kept my feet fairly warm. Only minor complaint is that they sometimes come untied...but it's just a minor inconvenience. Amazing boots. -

Read More When I first saw these boots I absolutely had to have them. They were exactly what I was looking for, a waterproof mud boot...and they looked good as well. It was love at first sight! BUT...then I read the reviews. One good review for every twenty bad, so I walked away. The next time I went to rei I was still compelled to buy them, so I tried them on. They fit beautifully. I thought, what a shame such a good looking and comfortable boot could be so poorly made, and sell for such a price. THEN... I inspected the pair I had on, and could see where many of the complaints stemmed from. The glue job was horrific! Huge gaping holes with no glue! On waterproof boots!! Not to mention the giant globs of glue smeared haphazardly all around the sole. But I did notice the display boot looked far better than the ones I tried on. So.... I became THAT customer, and asked to see all pairs in stock, in my size. They happily did so, and I found one pair that, while still glued haphazardly, had no gaps. I bought them. I've abused them for three months now doing farm work in all sorts of rain and snow. They've kept me dry. They've shown little wear. And over all I love them. I do however have two nits to pick. One...the rubber cap on the toe is juuuuust starting to separate. Not bad, and barely noticeable. Nothing a little shoe goo or super glue can't fix. No big deal. And two....the laces have trouble staying on the upper hooks. About once a day for each boot. Not a majorly catastrophic, but no matter how tight I lace, it can't be stopped. But again, all things considered, I love these boots and feel I've gotten my money's worth. -
Jan 9, 2016Not Too BadThey are really comfortable but at times I feel like the sole is too thin for rocky hiking.
