I bought this for my high-energy dog to help tire him out on runs. I chose this one because it's smaller and fits better than the bigger packs that would bounce around when we ran. This took awhile to get it fitted properly because the straps are a huge pain to adjust, but once fitted, it was perfect. I love the water bladders. They add a few pounds, which is all I wanted, and there's perfect weight balance between the sides so the pack doesn't get lopsided, even with running. There is room for small extras like poop bags and a collapsible water bowl. This may not be ideal for someone who hikes/camps and wants their dog to carry lots. This is PERFECT for running/walking or doing day hikes with your dog. My dog has never gotten blisters or raw spots from wearing this while running.

I bought the older version last summer for my Australian Shepherd for hiking and backpacking. He wears a medium, but the large fit the length of his body better, and after some adjusting with the straps he fits in it perfectly and hardly seems to notice it is there! He took it all the way up Mt. Massive (14,000ft) in Colorado last summer and had plenty of water to hydrate him all the way up, and back down. I love that it is breathable and light too, as he is long haired and gets over heated with other packs in hot weather. Side Note: You can actually fit a 32oz Nalgene in each side pocket, if you don't need the extra pocket room for baggies, and we used a small carabiniere to clip his collapsible water bowl on the outside to the leash clip. - I would not have him carry this much water for a fourteener, but perhaps backpacking and longer hikes.

I use the Singletrak pack for Charlotte when we are doing long distance trail runs. For her to be able to carry her own water, collapsible bowl, poop bags, treats and small leash is perfect because I typically just carry a hydration pack with little storage. The included soft-sided water bottles work great and the pack fits well. No chaffing and with multiple points of adjustment, I can really dial it in.
