Read More Overall it's usable, and a sturdy and good looking device. A few issues I have with it: #1 Be aware that at this point (current software 4.40) the Fenix 2 uses zero average cadence and there is no setting to change to non-zero average cadence like there is with many other devices (including other Garmin devices!). #2 They advertise it's great for paddling but there is no built-in paddling mode. You have to make a custom mode and I don't think what your options are end up being that great for setting this up. #3 If you have connected to a bike sensor, and do some other custom activity, it wants to use your bike sensor and you end up with 0 speed/distance data unless you go into settings and choose to turn off the sensor. Instead of making user go into Setting section to do this, for each custom activity you should be able to choose what sensors that activity should use. That would be much more intuitive. And to be honest, they should automatically fall back to GPS for speed/distance if the bike sensor is not detected, no? -

Read More This watch seems to work if you are in constant motion. If you stop moving to say read a map, take a picture, or filter water, the watch will keep ticking off distance. So if I am doing a trail run the mileage is almost always off by a mile or two by the end. If I run around the block the millage is usually right. -

Read More I really liked this watch at first but it failed after 8 months. Pros: The watch finds satellites really fast when your outside and in a clear open space to the sky. Long battery life, I could easily track runs that lasted over 5 hours (30+ miles). Screen is clear and easy to see. The heart rate monitor syncs pretty easily. The running distances recorded in GPS mode were accurate when matched to a map my run map (+-100 meters). The watch looks nice. Cons: I am not sure how well the watch actually works in water. I did use it in the pool a hand full of times but I don't think it grabbed all my flip turns when I had the watch set to indoor 25 meter lap mode. The watch failed after about 8 months. It would just reset while I was on a run. It seemed to do this more so when there were a lot of trees around. I would have to restart my run every-time it did this but it seemed to become more of a problem as time went on so I returned it. -

Read More I bought this with the HR monitor and running dynamics. The problem is you loose all the running dynamics if you actually use the device for any activity other than running. I enjoy an aerobic walk to work and cadence is important, but I lose the data if I select "speed walking" or "hiking." It's odd, because the device actually has the data but won't display it except when you choose "running" as your activity. I think many people who do other activities would like to know that data and it would be nice to have it displayed as an option. I sent the suggestion to Garmin; we'll see if they incorporate it on software updates. This still is a step up from the E-Trex Vista which I used to use, and picks up GPS satellites more quickly. -

Read More I really wanted to like this watch. I used it on the Wonderland trail and found one big flaw. If you stop for anything like take a picture, break, or talk to another hiker it continues to accumulate miles. I was off from trail markers and other gps users by 1.5 to 2 miles per mile. You have to pause the activity for every stop to get close. I returned it. -

Read More This device can do it all. I have had the watch for about a month and had an issue with it locking up, archive error. Two days later Garmin released a firmware update and have never seen it since. I was hesitant to purchase this watch because of all the bugs other reviewers mentioned. But since I have had the watch Garmin has released 3 firmware updates. I am going to stick with the watch, it is obvious Garmin is trying to get the bugs fixed and I think they are close. I ran 15 miles and had no issues also went on a 67 mile bike ride. No problems at all. I like it so much that I wear it everyday, but beware that the plastic can get dinged easily if you hit it on a desk, door, etc. -
Sep 19, 2014Great WatchI love the Fenix 2. It does everything I want it to. It has been a great addition to my training. I love the battery life. I wish Garmin had an Android App. Otherwise it is awesome
Read More This watch lasted me about 1.5 years. Now it has completely shut down and won't work. The strap lasted about 6 months. When it did work it would randomly short out and turn off during hiking trips. For the price its not worth it.
