Read More PROS: I love the Vivofit. I've had it a few months now. I love that I never have to charge it, it's waterproof, comfortable and unobtrusive, it pairs with my old Garmin HR monitor and my old foot pod. The device itself is super easy to use and reliable. I also like the iPhone app - it is similar to the Fitbit app. I've had no trouble syncing with the iPhone 5 app. (You do have to manually sync - push the button on the device and push the button on the app). I surprisingly like sleep app a lot and I like that it doesn't pretend to know more than it possibly could i.e. it just tells you how much you were moving. It stays on very securely with the unobtrusive keeper. And even with the software flaws below, you get so much more info than you can get from a fitbit type device. CONS: I've never been able to sync it via my computer. As so many others have noted, the Garmin web and Mac software is poor. The website has been greatly dumbed down from what it was years ago when I used to sync my FR60 with HR and foot pod. Back then showed a wonderland of concise information - how much time in each HR zone, splits, etc. Heart rate + zone + cadence + speed all on the same graph. Lots of good stuff. For the new website, they've taken a lot of the detail away and what there is you have to click click click to find. I used a Fitbit (cheap one) prior and I really loved that too, but I kept losing it and forgetting to wear it, and that's what initially drove me to try the Vivofit. I tried and liked the Fitbit Charge HR but found the battery life was less than 5 days for me, it was somewhat uncomfortable, and found the exercise heart rate (including cooling down) was way off when compared to my chest monitor. So, the Vivofit is my chosen device. -

Read More I've been using my vivofit since I received it in March 2014. I love that you don't need to charge it constantly, and that it's fairly waterproof - I wear it in the shower after working out at the gym, and to date, no issues. It has fallen off twice, when I accidentally caught it on something. I did get a bit belt for it, but even when that slides off to one side, it stays on. No step counter is going to be 100% accurate; I'm using it to make sure I'm moving around enough on my rest days. (Running days are no problem... I'm usually up over 25,000 steps those days.) I can sync via bluetooth to my iPhone with no issues. Sure, it takes a bit longer if I haven't done it for a week or two, but I just start the sync and continue on with whatever I was doing. (Note: when I went on vacation and didn't sync it for three weeks, the first few days of that cycle were lost, data-wise. I wouldn't trust it to store more than 14 days of data.) My one big beef is that I can't calibrate it to stride length for either running or walking, so the distance is always off. (And if distance is off, calorie usage is sure to be off, so I don't trust it for either of those calculations.) I ran 15.5 mi on trails one morning, and while my Forerunner 210 was pretty much spot-on for the distance, the vivofit said I'd done 21 miles. As much as I would have loved that to have been true... but that's why I use the Forerunner for distance measurement. Overall, the vivofit has done exactly what I got it to do - let me know my relative progress during the day toward my fitness goals. -

Read More I have had my Vivofit for 7 months and have had no issues. Syncing to computer and phone was seamless. I tried a few different devices and came back to the Vivofit. Perfect for my morning runs, evening walks, and all my daily activities. Have the heart rate monitor strap that I use daily during workouts, I am 56 yrs old and feel it very important to track the pumper. The Garmin software is wonderful, really like the daily challenges available. Have connected with a large group of people. You will not be disappointed with the Vivofit. -

Read More Garmin seems to go its own way with everything, which is fine if you have a computer and/or smartphone that is on their very narrow list of compatible devices. But if perchance you aren't running Windows, or don't have an iPhone with the latest operating system, or one of the very few Android devices they support, you're out of luck. It appears to be a nice product and has a lot of features for the price, but for me, it's essentially worthless. -

Read More I have owned my Vivofit for about 6 months. It works great as a pedometer in most instances but for Biking I have to switch it to hook on my shoe or I get no credit. And I have noticed if my hands are stationary (i.e. on a grocery cart or walk behind lawn mower) the step count either doesn't change at all or changes minimally. I find this is a disappointment. Also, I do Boot Camp 3 days a week and if we aren't running, no credit for steps. Sit ups, Burpees, etc...counts for nothing. -

Read More I've been using my Vivofit for a few weeks, and I love it. I was a little concerned by some of the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try anyway and I am happy I did. I use it to track my steps and activity in general and I have found that it has made me more motivated to be more active, take more walks before bedtime, get up from my desk more often, etc. It is comfortable to wear, and I don't really notice it. I like that I can see the number of steps on the screen, which is a good motivator to get up and get moving. I haven't had trouble with syncing it with my computer except when the internet is spotty and then it can take a few times for it to sync. That's no big deal to me because I just wait until I am at home with reliable internet to sync it, and I've never had a problem. Mine came with a small band that covers the clasp so I haven't had any trouble with it falling off. It is a pedometer, and I don't recommend it for other fitness activities. I've worn it skiing, and I can enter that activity into the garmin connect page, but that is kind of a pain. I use it to only track my steps, which is all I really expected when I bought it. I would recommend this product to others, and I'm very happy with it.
Read More Live in Australia and love to shop REI! I brought this post hamstring & ankle reconstruction with the intent of measuring my activity level through my rehabilitation ie aligning the pain I was experiencing with the amount of getting about I was doing.... The initial reviews I had read were a little off putting and I am glad I didn't heed to them when choosing to purchase! This is a great bit of kit that really compliments my Garmin 210 for training in terms of motivation and tracking. I have worn it for nearly 4 months straight. The band keeper seems to have fixed earlier (reviewed) problems of the tracker randomly falling off (this has not been a problem for me at all!). I wear it surfing, walking, hiking, swimming...sleeping! I find the accuracy (for the distance walked) is reasonably comparable to my Garmin 210 as I have taken the time to calibrate my stride length through the Garmin Connect program. I just used the VIVO and the 210 in conjunction to accurately count my steps over a 1km distance....done. In saying that I have been more interested in how active I have been during the day; using the number of steps taken is a great indicator. I have been able to see the progress of walking less than 100 steps a day up to my current 12000. Motivation wise, I enjoy trying to beat the daily goal. The only thing I have noticed is the blue band is dis-coloring but I also figured that would probably happen when I choose this color....expectation met I guess! I do wonder though, with all this data collection....what does 'Big Brother' collect??? Overall a great product and I enjoy using it.
