Read More The mattress is comfortable and holds air well... Unfortunately the pump worked one time and hasn't since. I followed the directions and charged it all the way out of the box to ensure the battery wouldn't be damaged. Unfortunately the other reviews are legitimate. The battery is faulty and will not charge again. Adding insult to injury, the pump will not function when charging/plugged in. We are only keeping it because we have the REI air bed and use the manual pump on both. -

Read More I bought this item hoping the reviews mentioning the pump weren't true. Unfortunately, I returned this product after a 2 day camping trip due to the pump. I charged it up overnight and into the next morning prior to use. I was only able to get about half the bed inflated before having to recharge the pump. Same happened when deflating the pump as well. Wouldn't mind so much if I could inflate it while its plugged in but that's not how it functions. Holds the air great though and great overall comfort. -

Read More We've had this for about 8 months. I use it almost every weeknight right now to catch 7 hours with baby being taken care of amazing mom. Previous to this we owned another air mattress from another company that was puncture by a family members cat. Our 90 lbs dog with claws has been "accidentally" crawling on this the past two weeks, and no issues. The only problem is the charger. There's some reading to do about the battery, timing, etc. It's pretty temperamental if you're used to plug-and-go; so be sure to read the manual. -

Read More I bought this mattress and then read the horror stories. But, so far everything has gone smoothly. The pump that comes with it is cordless & chargeable. It even comes with a car adapter that i use on the drive over to where ever I am going. Hasn't deflated during nights. I live in MO and have used in the summer so far. I would imagine that it would deflate in areas where its real cold at nights, then again that's expected. It has held up my wife, me, and an excited dog with nails and have held up no problem (I would still try to minimize and frantic dog activity, just to be safe). Its light too and can be very compact. -

Read More Decided to try this product after seeing some bad reviews and I am glad I did. Alps has always made a good product and that holds true with this mattress. To begin with I did something completely unorthodox and read the instructions on the electric pump. It is a Ni-Cad battery and needs to be treated right to work (explains the failures in other reviews?) It has to be charged for 12 hours before first use and 8 before any other use. You will destroy the pump if you do not follow this rule. With all Ni-Cad batteries it is best if you run it down all the way before recharge. the pump is small and light-weight and fits in the bag which is great! It gave me 3 inflates and 4 deflates before going dead (the last inflate/deflate was slow). I will say the next model of this bed should include a Li-ion battery because it is more "stupid-proof" I personally would be happy to pay the $20-$30 more for this improvement but most would not hence Alps using Ni-Cad. The mattress itself is great! it held air without any loss for 4 days before I got tired of the experiment. it is comfortable, the nylon fabric feels comfortable against your skin. no plastic smells. and most especially it is strong. Compared to "Wall Mart" versions this thing is a tank. Obviously it is not impervious because it is also light weight but it will certainly hold up to time I think. The welds on all the seams are very well done. the inlet valve has a check valve so when you finish the fill you don't have to try to rush and plug it while losing air. the whole thing is held together with rope attached to the other side at each divot so the mattress does not act like a trampoline when my spouse gets up and lies back down keeping us both asleep at night which is awesome! the mattress can be either very firm or soft depending on how much air you let out but its nice having the ability to have it firm. -

Read More The velocity air bed far exceeded my expectations. My husband and I took our family camping over the weekend and it worked great in our big 2 room tent. Unfortunately for our kids (10 & 15 years old), they got our “old” air bed that we passed down to them when we got our new velocity and they woke up on the ground. So we plan to buy another velocity so that they can wake up on an air bed that actually holds air too! The pump was nice because it not only inflated the bed, but also deflated it, which sucked all the air out, making it fold small enough to fit back into the carry bag. -

Read More Even though this Air Bed had a few bad reviews, I went ahead and gave it a try since I have purchased other Alps products in the past and have been happy with the high quality of their products. I charged the pump all day, following the directions, and the pump works great. When camping with my boyfriend last weekend we found it to be very comfortable, and very firm in comparison to other Air Beds I have slept on. Best of all, it didn't lose any air throughout the night. One other nice feature is the stuff sack is generous in size, and we were able to easily deflate and get it rolled up back into the carry bag.
Read More The mattress is pretty nice, but the inflator doesn't hold a charge, and takes forever to charge up. It also doesn't run if it's plugged in, so you can't even run it off your cigarette lighter socket our household outlet when the battery cuts out half way through inflating it.
