Read More I purchased 4 of these bags in different sizes to use on a canoe trip to the Boy Scout High Adventure base in Atikokan Canada and they performed excellent, I never had wet gear and the packs were in the water alot but always found all my gear dry. mI am not sure how they will perform as far as abrassion resistance if they are not packed in a back pack but they seem to be vert tough. -

Read More I purchased this intending to use it for my sleeping bag, The Cat's Meow by The North Face. I bought the medium and it fit great! Not only does this bag provide the peace of mind of a dry sleeping bag at the end of a day paddling, it is also lighter than the compression sack that came with the bag. While this bag didn't get dunked, it did reside inside my internal frame pack that soaked up plenty of water from the bottom of the canoe. Also, after a hard night of rain, our tent was packed wet. None of the water from the tent made it to the bag. The only cautions are that getting it stuffed and rolled correctly can be tricky, especially with larger loads in the bag as they tend to want to get rolled into the top. Also, the material, being ultra-light, does feel somewhat fragile. While I wasn't concerned shoving this in and out of my backpack, repeated wear will likely damage the material. Be careful around sharp or abrasive objects. -

Read More I purchased two Ultra-Sil Compression DrySacks. One arrived with a twisted strap. I tried to remove the problem strap from the buckle, but I was unable to pull the end through the buckle -- nice if the strap weren't twisted. I contacted Sea to Summit customer service and after several days of radio silence, I received an email telling me the tech said it might be difficult, but I could in fact pull the strap out of the buckle and untwist it. No guidance provided on how this might be accomplished. I tried again and managed to fray the strap. Customer service said I could mail the sack to them and they would fix it and send it back. No suggestion that they would pick up the tab for postage. Not my idea of customer service. I guess I'll have to return the sack to REI.
Read More I wouldn't recommend going with this lighter weight version over the eVent Sack, unless those few ounces are really going to make or break it for you, weight-wise. The straps are thinner and smaller, making it seem much flimsier than the original, and the straps are really prone to twisting which makes compressing the sack very difficult, and they are very difficult to untwist. I'll be abandoning this one and buying another of the eVent Sacks.
