Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Fast Kicks My last few pairs of hikers have been TNF, and I've had good luck with them. So in staying with a good thing, I ordered a pair of these Fastpack GTX. Wanted a TNF boot that was a step up from the Storm series that the local sporting good stores carried. Those seemed a little too lightweight and not enough shank support for rocky steep terrain. I mostly use these for disc golf on our extremely rugged mountain course. The boots have been excellent. Great comfort, support, and traction. Played a full round in a heavy downpour and my feet stayed perfectly dry. They were the only thing dry! These would be good enough for mid-weight weekend backpacking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boots These boots feel like you've been wearing them for a month as soon as you put them on. They are very lightweight and comfortable. I traveled for 4 months in Nepal and did a fair amount of hiking with them and not once did a get a blister and they were not uncomfortable at any point. Your feet stay plenty dry with the goretex which is nice. The only issue I had with them is one of the seems connecting the mesh like fabric on the inside front of the boot has come undone. This is not a huge problem either cause the goretex on the inside keeps anything from going all the way through and its still dry. I have put them through a fair amount.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sneaker style, good looking, material issues I think what I loved about this "boot" was that it was mostly like a running shoe feel. Very light, width is low profile. I also have some ankle/lower leg issues, so the two buckles at the top were nice. Most other mids only have one. Those two really give it almost a brace feel if you pull it tight. However, as others have said, after only a week of mostly indoor use, the greyish color material on the top of the toes got a tear in it. It could have been just a random imperfection, but there were no other replacements near me. I wound up going a different route. Only now that REI asked me to write a review, did I come on here and see others with the similar issues. Very unique shoe, would work for specialized desires, but seems like the durability issues prevent folks from enjoying it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seams tear negating waterproofing Loved how these boots looked and felt but the seams frayed negating the waterproofing after only a couple short hikes in the Grand Canyon. To make matters worse, the same thing happened to my wife's boot (same model just women's version) a few months later. Would be a great boot but the craftsmanship quality is poor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT BOOTS! After detailed research online and checking out several hiking boots in different outdoor stores, I decided to buy these boots. I first used them while at a friend's ranch and then for hiking in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. These boots were fantastic! These are undoubtedly the best hiking boots I've worn. They were comfortable, light and kept my feet dry from the snow and rain. They also had excellent grip in the mud and rocky terrain of the mountains. My friends also liked the neat look of the boots. I'm sure these boots will perform equally well for hiking in the mountains of my country, Bhutan, where I'll be using them regularly in more harsher terrain. Hope to write a follow-up review on how they perform back home.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but not durable I have owned several pairs of North Face boots over the past few years. While they're always comfortable and well made, I find that the soles wear out very quickly. I bought these in March, it's July and I have already worn the soles flat in several spots. If you're looking at these boots; I'd buy them if you need a pair to wear for an occasional or weekend hike but I'd try another brand if you need to wear them daily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these boots Everyone's experience is different. Everyone's feet are different. But I LOVE these boots. Have worn them in every condition except snow: in rain, with and without a pack, through mud, on rock, on beaches, through streams, etc, etc without a single problem. They have kept my feet dry. They breathe. They offer secure footing. They are supportive and very light. Yes, the soles and midsoles get cut by granite, but after a summer of use, the damage is more cosmetic than structural. Expect these will last at least a second season of hard use.

How is the same shoes different for men and women.

Asked by: NeeleshVithlani
Men's boots and women's boots have slightly different sizing systems and men's boots have a wider fit.
