Good fit, good cushioning, good tread, water resistant, and available in a snazzy color. Broke these in at Linville Falls. Would definitely recommend. -

Read More My most recent obsession is trail racing and I've got a couple of trail running shoes - of which these are my absolute favorites. First the look - Oh My. These are gorgeous shoes (to me, my teen disagrees LOL). I got the wine/purple color and I'm happy just putting them on. They fit like a glove over all my foot - no hotspots, no blisters, everything as if it was made for my foot. The inside, non removable sockliner, is just perfect for my wider feet and narrow ankles. I love the fabric for trails - not sure it would be that comfy on roads or general (but other reviewers say yes..so I guess so). I've done two trail races in this shoe. A 10K on more technical terrain with rocks, roots, stream crossing, high ledges to traverse and a lot of elevation change, etc and a 10 Miler on packed dirt single track with mostly just roots and a small stream crossing. They handled both very well - and they did not stay wet (though I did not fully immerse in the stream - fortunately my rock hopping went well and no crash and splash!) - even running through small puddles they don't get wet. The lugs/grips on the bottom work very well in mud but they can get caked on so you'll want to "shake" off a bit if you run through a lot of mud. No problem with rocks and gravel getting caught on the bottom of the shoes either. The lacing you should play around with a bit - because if you are doing elevation changes and lots of technical terrain you want to be sure the shoe really "fits" your needs. For me that means I've got to lock it down more than I normally would. This prevents toenail smush and other maladies that are really no fun at all. The toe bumper did well for me too and I had no bruising on my feet. The only thing I'd say is that, if you don't get the lacing perfect and wear decent socks, the heel area can feel a bit wide and unstable. So if you are feeling that way play around with the lacing until you get it fitting just right. As for sizing I usually wear a 6.5 in regular shoes and a 7 in running shoes. These fit well in a 7. This is different than some of my Merrell Barefoot shoes which are a 6.5 so this last is obviously different and I went up 1/2 size.
