Read More My wife got the 620 for my birthday- probably more than I would have spontaneously plunked down for a running watch, but I'm pleased with its performance. First, the basic functions (unlike some of the other experiences expressed in these reviews) all work- I have experienced no glitches, crashes, bugs etc. The miles are accurate to known standards, and the heart rate monitor captures immediately and is accurate (unlike others I have used), and doesn't cut out. It makes absolutely no sense to own this watch without the HR monitor, since most of the advanced features that set is apart from less expensive models require that data. It easily downloads to the Garmin Connect an allows me to track my stats (speed, distance, intervals, cadence, VO2 max etc) on any of my computers, phones, tablets etc. The battery will last more than a marathon, unless you are increda-slow, in which case, you need more than a fancy watch to help you. I like being able to set the fast and slow pace alerts. You set the parameters for the upper and lower limits where you want them, and you gets a vibration and audio alert if you fall below or go to fast. The virtual partner is sort of redundant to this function, and I deem it not that useful. I want to know my pace- right now, not a cartoon of where I am against my virtual partner, but I can see, If you doing a race with a goal pace, having the visual (you- the green guy against him- the black guy) will tell you if you're on track. The interval trainer is good and does what you want (intervals and rests) The cadence and running dynamics are interesting, but whether they will actually change what I do, I don't know. At first, I thought the VO2max calculation was sort of pointless, but I actually like it a lot. You really have to work to move the VO2max, even by a point, and after a while I've found I'm motivated to do so. It usually clicks up a point after an epic run, where real progress happened. Did I need a watch to tell me that- nope, but its cool to put another notch on the holster. Why 4 stars? Because its ugly- its sort of looks like a $13 watch for my kids. Also, for that much money, you might as well get the Fenix and have the full-monte in a stylish package. -

Read More Third Garmin watch and the 620 is the final as it very problematic. I have had it for 9 months and have experienced continuous charging issues, WiFi, Bluetooth, syncing, updating and just locking up. After numerous attempts to get help from Garmin I am writing off the $450 I spent on it and time to look for a new company to support. -

Read More I had a Forerunner 610 before this one. I returned it because it had minor issues. The 620 was supposed to be better, but it isn't. It does link to the HRM quickly and works smoothly right out of the box. Other features were problematic. It took some work to get it to sync through my iPhone, but if I've got an iPhone, why do I need the watch? (Because it's cool to see the data on your wrist.) I could never get it to sync over wifi. Finally, the GPS stopped working at times, then it would start. Then it would stop. Garmin software doesn't have an option to fill in the missed space so all the location data ends up wrong, even if it tracked heart rate. I tried to call Garmin support, but the wait time was always longer than 15 minutes. A $450 product that you can't get support for easily. If you do wait to get through, the Garmin people are nice and they do know their stuff. All in all, my iPhone does all that this watch does and it doesn't have the issues. This will be my last Garmin product unless one gets rave reviews. -

Read More Run from this product... It is of appalling quality. Not much works beside timer and pace.... HR monitor drops or fails constantly. Wi-Fi connection is an on-going issue since launch of product, a year ago !!! Bluetooth connection same. For 450$ you'd expect perfection. I experienced the exact opposite. Do not buy. It has deterred me from buying any other Garmin products for life ! -

Read More Overall, I'm really happy with my Garmin. I tried several before finally ending up with this one. Love- The customizable screens Option for bike/run activity profile Touchable screen Live tracking feature(you do have to be pretty close to your phone for it to do live tracking. Example... If I put the watch on the left side of my handlebar on my bike, then put my phone in my back right pocket in my bike jersey then sometimes it'll lose the signal so I make sure to put my phone in my left jersey pocket instead) Battery life(took me just under 6 & 1/2hrs to complete a 100mi century but the battery was still going while all my friends GPS watches had already died hours earlier) Cadence Dislike- The heart rate strap... It can be uncomfortable and causes chaffing for me. I had a Polar before this and never had any problems at all but for some reason with the Garmin strap it'll cut into me and cause bleeding. (If I apply BodyGlide every time then it helps.) Indoors it's not very reliable. I have to make sure auto-pause is off on the treadmill because it'll pause randomly when I'm still running. Also, while on the indoor track it doesn't keep my pace very accurately. Outdoors I never have any problems though! I mostly use it for running/cycling outdoors and like being able to quickly look at one screen with all the info I want(pace, HR, distance, time) so the pros definitely outweigh the cons for me and I'm happy with my purchase. -

Read More The 620 is great for running. I've worn it swimming and biking, and it works OK for those sports, but in truth it is a only running watch. The color display is stupid, but I really like the adjustable fields. My eyes aren't great, but if I use only time and distance fields, I can easily read the display. More fields make everything too small. Triathletes need a different watch, but for running alone I think it's the best on the market. The other reviews talk about bugs. I experienced none. -

Read More I bought one of these a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, from the moment I turned it on it was plagued with a crashing bug. More times than not when I hit a button the watch freezes and takes a couple minutes to reboot. It's a shame, because when the watch does work it is great. I did update the watch after it crashed the first couple times, but it still has the same problem. As it is, I am going to return it as soon as I get a chance. I would choose to recommend this product to a friend assuming they can get one without this bug.
Read More I'm an avid runner. I run several half marathons and a full marathon or two each year. I've run with a cheaper GPS watch before, but the 620 watch is like upgrading from a pinto to a sports car. It was quick and easy to set up. It connects quickly (I like in a mountain area). Even in a recent storm it linked quickly to gps connection. I uploaded the garmin connect app. I only wish I could see total (weekly/yearly) milage from the app.I love the stats: casence, vertical oscillation, vo2, hearth rate, ground contact time, etc...and am looking forward to gathering more data from my runs to analyze my training.
