I went through 3 of these, non of which passed the waterproof test and now own a Lifeproof case which is amazing. -

Read More Purchased this case to enable me to carry my cellphone for emergency communication purposes while windsurfing on Puget Sound. I already lost one phone due to a drybag floodout, so I wanted a hardcase with inspectable seals. I performed the 1/2 hour seal test in kitchen sink with no problems and took it sailing once with no apparent problems. I actually carried it with me packed in an Otterbox Pursuit 40 dry box for double protection, so it never had true submersion, only incidental wetting when I used it with wet hands on the beach after landing for the day. However, after washing it in the sink at home to rinse off any salt water from the day's sailing, I discovered water drops in between the phone and the case's protective screen cover. Fail! Fortunately, it wasn't enough to affect the phone. I can't be sure when the seal failure occurred (during sailing, or in the sink), but it was enough for me to lose confidence in the case's design. I love Otterbox products and use the Defender for daily phone protection case, but a single failure in a case that was designed for this purpose is enough to make me look for a different solution. In general, the Armor case seems well built and would be fine for limited exposure to water, but not for submersion under crazy conditions. I will probably try to find a case that doesn't have o-ring sealed access plugs for the charger and headphone jack and one that has the fewest lineal inch-age of seals overall. Each ringseal represents an opportunity for a leak and those port plugs are pushed in and out for access, leading to potential wear on the 0-rings. Keep looking...
