Read More In warm weather, i wear these for outdoor work and hiking, usually while wearing shorts. They're great for keeping dirt, stones, twigs, leaves, mud, and other assorted detritus out of one's boots. The fabric is fairly light, so doesn't add much to heat retention around the ankles, and they also dry out quickly if they get wet. I'm about 6'1", 190 pounds and wear an 11 boot/shoe. The large/extra large fit fine for me. The length (circumference when in place) along the bottom is about 17 inches and tapers to about 11 inches at the top. The velcro closure (about an inch wide) allows for a bit of adjustment along the circumference. I've had a number of pairs of these over the years, and given the light weight of the material, they hold up well. For me, the thing that has limited the useful life of these is that the elastic in the cuff eventually stiffens and fatigues, and fails to fully tighten around the leg, leaving a gap for stuff to get by. It takes a number of years for that to happen though. As one would expect, the instep cords can wear out pretty quickly, as they're constantly getting crunched between the sole of the boot and the ground. Recycled, old shoelaces make for handy replacements. -

Read More I work with machinery outside everyday in our deep southern woods and pastures. Since I wear shorts for comfort, I need these gators to keep constant sources of debris out of my boots and socks. These are perfect for everyday use with my 6"-8" work boots. My only negative response is simply the hooks are right-side down; one hooks them after wrapping them around one's ankles. The hooks on my old ones (REI) were upside down and were pressed down and confined into place by tight laces. They could not come loose during the entire day.
Read More I was getting real tired of dirt, pebbles and twigs getting into my boots while hiking. These are the first lightweight gaiters I've tried. They are 100% effective at keeping trail debris out of my boots. They are light in weight, and I hardly even notice that they are on. I used to have to stop every so often to empty my boots of dirt, but no more! They are now a must-have item for hiking.
