The neck to breast dimension is a bit small for a large dog (100 lb.Lab). Held up well on several recent 3 day hikes, 20 plus miles each. Bag size is sufficient for 3-4 day rations. -

I can't wait to see him on the trail with it this summer -

Read More We bought this after a Mountainsmith pack failed miserably (seam failure). So far our German Shepherd has put about 150 miles on it, mostly hiking. On one particilar trip we backpacked 50 miles through the Pasayten wilderness. She wore it all day for several days and carried water, shovel (for poop) and her bowl. One trail had hundreds of blowdowns we had to go over, under and around and the pack not only held tight but didn't seem stretched or scuffed in the least. It rarely caught on any limbs or rocks and the handle on top proved invaluable when we wanted to grab hold of her near cliff edges and trains of pack animals (mules are afraid of dogs we were told). I recommend it highly. The orange color makes it highly visible outdoors. It seems as sturdy as any top of the line bomber human pack (Arc'teryx comes to mind) but isn't overly heavy or cumbersome. We haven't fiund any rubbing spots on our dog. One nice bit is a reflective seem along the buckles to see in the dark, something you might only notice if you had to do it. The medium fit our 70 pound German Shepherd perfect. This is a forever pack :-) -
Jan 8, 2016Greatest pack everOur dogs have used various carry packs and harnesses; but, this s the first one that I have had to coax them into taking off. Great storage and weight distribution

Read More This is an awesome pack for taking your dog out backpacking. The sizing fit perfect and it is easily adjustable to fit snug on your dog. I re-adjust the pack before every trip, but after that I do not have to mess with the straps the entire weekend. We have fit a little more than 3 days worth of food, 1.5 L of water, and a small dog bowl with no problem. I have also strapped booties on the top with little trouble. It is a solid piece of equipment. I was worried about pulling on the handle or using the clasp at first, but they are holding up great with my 55 lb dog. She loves the pack and never seems uncomfortable when wearing it. It is also great because I don't have to carry around any of her food or water!
