Bought my first pair in 1993 and had them resoled four times in 19 years until I finally retired them in 2012. Cold weather, hot weather, trail, rooftop construction, afternoon walks in autumn, light rain, heavy rain, snowstorms, streams and rivers and the desert of Joshua Tree, these boots have seen it all, they've traveled and held up like no other boot/shoe I've ever worn. After years in the military and wearing combat boots, as a civilian wearing sneakers, trail runners, approach and Chaco's, I can firmly attest that there are few other must haves I'd be without. Danner customer service has been spectacular in the two times I've needed help and sending them back (I sent them back to corporate for restitching rather than rely on a local cobbler after year 15 and then again two years later). I resoled with local cobblers that treated them gently and always returned them in such great shape I'd thought I bought a new pair each time I got them back on. Can you tell I love these boots? You will, too!

I've had a pair of Danner boots for the past 17 years (Acadia's, which are built on the same last and footbed as these). That one pair of Danners lasted me 17 years as a patrol officer, wearing them 40 hours a week. I think I've resoled them six times. And I am NOT gentle on those boots; they take a beating. A few years ago I needed a pair of nice backpacking boots. I thought Asolos were good and paid a lot of money for a pair I thought were good. Wore them a handful of times and the sole came off when I was on a backpacking trip in the Sierras. I was not happy at all. They were kind of overbuilt anyway; too clunky and rigid. Thankfully REI helped me out and I exchanged them for these boots. These are the most awesome boots ever. I absolutely love them. Tons of support and great cushioning. I did have to put a pair of Superfeet Green in them. This is something I highly recommend, especially if you suffer from foot ailments like I do. I wish REI would expand their Danner selection. They make some incredible boots, and most of them are made in the USA. They also have an incredible redrafting service, so one pair of boots will last you a very long time.

I normally wear size 11 in street shoes, but ended up with the 10.5 EE in these. I have wide, flat feet and was worried about the width near the arch and toe box, but these boots have been great. They've gotten comfier with every wear, have great support and resoleability is something I'd been looking for in a boot. They definitely require break-in time, but that is to be expected with a boot like this and the break-in isn't painful like some other boots.

I bought these over a year ago in that year they spent a summer doing trail work in Denali Ak hunting in WI, IA, and Colorado, daily use as a senior majoring in soil science, oh yeah and 3 5k's. only once have my feet hurt at the end of the day (after break in period) and that was a long day walking on very thick tundra. the only thing that is a bit of a fail in this boot is that after a few months the waterproofing became non existent, but a lil snow seal and they made it through a northern wi winter and spring just fine. bottom line this is one heck of a boot and has performed very well for me. (order in a wide!!)

I weigh 250lbs and wear a size 14D shoe. I purchased these boots a few weeks ago. They are still in the break in stage with only 20 miles or so on them but they fit great. They started juts a little tight on the width but that went away quickly. I've worn them in 20 degree weather and my feet were warm and comfortable. They provide outstanding ankle support and protection. I am very demanding on footwear and I think I'll be very happy with these boots for years to come.

I've had the same pair of Danner Light II since 1997. They've seen countless hundreds of miles of day hikes, backpacking trips and hunting trips all over Arizona and New Mexico. After all those years and miles, I finally wore the sole down. I sent them back to Danner for rework and they are good as new, but well broken in. I expect to get another 15-20 years out of this pair. I've had them so long, I thought it would be good for shoppers to hear my opinion. You can't go wrong with Danner boots.

These boots appealed to me as a field worker in a variety of adverse New England environments because they appeared durable and highly stable. Overbuilt sole is an old style that wouldn't be applicable to hiking good trails, but I wear them everyday in terrain that varies from abandoned urban lots to rocky outcroppings on steep slopes. The stability and traction is what I desired and expected. I wore them many miles in the city and they were very comfortable. After a painful break-in with sole pain, ankle swelling, and a lot of clicking from the heel/ankle area (which went away) the boots became comfortable. I had to exchange for a wide and now the fit is perfect - no toe slamming or sliding. They did well on a Grand Canyon hike, but the boots were heavy. These boots are not waterproof. The leather is nubuck and it absorbs water. I have not treated them yet but will need to soon because in wet grass or any sort of precipitation the leather becomes saturated and takes some time to dry. Now, after wearing them for three months, everyday, they are no longer waterproof to wet grass and my toes get wet. In very wet conditions, the boot interior becomes very moist. They are not what I had hoped for, but I'm not sure any company makes a boot that stands up to the conditions and repetitive abuse my job demands. Next time I just wont spend as much.

Very nice boots. I spent a lot of time trying to find just the right boots for everything but sub-zero wear, as I have a pair of winter pacs. These boots run medium width as claimed so for me that is perfect. Very light boots too. Wasn't sure if I would be able to wear them for a full day of hiking, but I'm sure they'll be perfect. Slightly darker than in the picture so I actually like them better! Love them so far and I anticipate that being the case for the next 15 years.
