Read More I got this for my boyfriend (the tech dude) to use on a 12 day backpacking trip we went on in Europe. He actually thought this was a cool gadget!!! Even though we had proper converters for European outlets, this was really handy to have. It was always on his backpack charging so every night we could charge iphones, and his ipad, that had the all important maps. Really easy, lightweight, and it no joke WORKED really well. Highly recommend this product.

Read More I don't normally write reviews but I felt I needed to warn people before buying this. When charged directly from a computer, the power cell only provided my iPhone 6 with a 34% boost in power. When charging the cell with the solar panel, it would only charge up to 2 out of the 4 power indicators (in direct sunlight all day as it was strapped to my backpack). This would only provide a 12% boost in power. Say your money and your back. This is just extra weight in your pack and is worthless. Taking mine back to REI ASAP. -

Read More I just bought and received. I've successfully charged iPod and iPhone from sun directly and from goal zero battery that had charged from sun. Next week and for two months I'll be hiking the GR10 in France's Purenees. That will be the real test. Also it passed a drop on concrete test with flying colors! So far., love it. -

Read More I bought this package thinking it would be useful for charging my smartphone while hiking this summer. Unfortunately, the only way to charge the phone is to use the included battery pack as the solar cell output is too weak to provide sufficient current. The battery pack also takes more than 10 hours to charge, even in direct sunlight. In cloudy conditions or in deep woods, it takes even longer. I would return it and get the next bigger solar cell kit, but I am afraid it too will be insufficient to charge the phone on the go.
