Jan 8, 2016Great RackVery easy to install and holds my Hybrid bike. Stabilizers do a great job keeping the bike from swaying. This is my second purchase of this rack. It's installed on my 2004 Toyota RAV4.

A roof rack won't because I own a soft top that is never even on during mountain bike season (read sunny and warm), a hitch rack won't work because I have oversized tires on my Jeep, and the don't come out far enough, simply the won't fit around my tires. This hitch works perfectly. I was worried because the box said it would fit all stock tires. I need not have worried. I didn't even need to use the extensions that came with it. I'd guess a person could use this on a tire in excess of 15" wide, which is extremely rare. Bottom line, very happy. -

Read More This is a great rack for my jeep application, however the cable lock is more then disappointing. The cable lock failed in the locked position after a few use's. In trying to remove the bike I found the cable ends are held in place by a 1/4" long sheet metal screw, anybody with small pliers on an army knife can defeat this lock in less than a minute! I still use and like the rack; just removed the silly cable lock and capped the tubing. I now use my bicycle cable lock to the spare tire. -

Read More This rack performed better than I expected. It was extremely easy to set up and install. It holds the bikes rock steady. It's also easy to remove when I don't need it. It was a perfect fit for my 2011 RAV4. I would give it 5 stars except one step in the instructions is misleading and wrong. It says "Using screwdriver, remove plug from locking knob as shown." Wrong! The cap turns about a 1/4 turn.... and then the mushy plastic screw slot disintegrates. I destroyed my plug in seconds trying just trying to get it to unscrew. I had to take it to REI where the bike technician spent half an hour trying the same thing. Finally, he discovered that I was supposed to turn the plug 1/4 turn - and then slide it out. I'm so dumb that I couldn't figure out that "using screwdriver" to remove the plug didn't mean to unscrew it. It meant "rotate 1/4 turn, then slide out." Shame on me! I'm including a scan of Step 6, but if the copyright gods banish it, you can go to the Thule web site, find the Thule Spare Me 963PRO and open the User Manual PDF. Once I was able to get past that, the rack was perfect for what I wanted. -

Read More I use it for weekend bike rides with my family. The rack took me 20 minutes to install the first time. I take it down from my jeep after each use and hang it in my garage. It takes me 3 minutes to remove the tire cover and to put the rack back on before each use. This is a great purchase that I recommend very much. I would give it five stars if it came in a three-bike version. -

Read More Seemed like the perfect unit for our 2009 Rav 4 until we tried to mount the bikes. Two Trek's Navigators, which are fairly beefy bikes, will not fit on this rather small, but quite sturdy carrier. Too bad as the unit seemed perfect for our use. We have determined that our bikes will fit only on a larger hitch style carrier. Rating is unfair as we were unable to use the unit for our bikes. It looked like it might be excellent for the right bikes. Bottom Line: Yes I would recommend this carrier, but not for two Navigators.
