Fitbit One Activity Tracker
Fitness Expert Advice: Fitness monitors
The experts at REI breakdown what fitness monitors do and how they work.
- Fitbit One tracker uses a 3D motion sensor to monitor your activity while walking, running, participating in daily activities and sleeping
- Tracker counts how many steps you've taken during the day, assesses how many miles you've traveled and calculates how many calories you've burned
- Altimeter encourages you to walk up hills and take the stairs by tracking the number of stairs you've climbed throughout the day
- Switch to Sleep mode before you go to bed to track how many times you wake and how long you've slept; a sleep quality score is assigned to help you apply what you learn
- Includes a silent wake alarm that gently vibrates to wake you at your desired time without disturbing your partner
- Wear the tracker clipped to your pants, shirt, undergarments or to the included wristband; wear it clipped to the wristband at night to track your sleep
- Sync the Fitbit One with your PC or Mac; free online dashboard gives you a snapshot of your daily and cumulative progress with graphs, tools and charts
- Fitbit One can also sync over Bluetooth with certain mobile devices, including iPhones® and iPads®
- Fitbit free mobile app for your Apple iPhone® 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch and 3rd generation iPad keeps track of your stats and celebrates how much you do each day
- Receive badges and alerts on your smartphone for daily, weekly and lifetime achievements to help keep you motivated; receive a weekly email of your stats
- Connect with friends on Fitbit.com to compare stats, share progress, set challenges and cheer each other on
- Use the online tool to log your meals, water intake, workouts and weight
- Fitbit One plays well with several other popular fitness apps, including SparkPeople, Lose It!, MyFitnessPal and MapMyFITNESS, so you can track your health the way you want to

Mar 20, 2016Good but you will lose itI loved this as I am a number nerd but it kept falling out of its housing. I found it multiple times but then it finally fell out and I didn't notice and it was gone for good.

Read More I originally had a Charge HR but have a habit of taking off my watch at work and once I get home. So, I chose the One instead. It is actually not lacking that much from the HR outside of the call notifications and heart rate monitor. The only two complaints are with the sleeve it sits in. The metal backing started bending and made the fit really loose. I almost lost it at one point until I bent it back with a pair of pliers. It work d fine after that. E little plastic end cap on the sleeve is now coming off too. But, the tracker itself seems to work really well. Very compact and easy to use. The battery life is excellent as well. -

Read More Unfortunately, I cannot review the actual product because I had it less than one day, never got to see whether it tracked anything, never got to sync it. I tried to use the device with the included clip accessory and placed it on the coin pocket of my jeans while doing errands. I went to look at it after a few hours only to realize that it was gone! After hearing of my loss, the "generous" offer from Fitbit was that I could buy another one at a 25% discount. Lucky me ... this is still a price at which they make money and, in the meantime, I am out another $75. Not very good customer service in my opinion. I would definitely not recommend the product or the company! -

Read More I've had this model for 1.5 years now. It has been a great motivational tool for me and my friend as we trained for a 15k. The pedometer is definitely one great feature, but you could get that for a whole lot cheaper; same with the activity tracking in the app. The best part has been the sleep monitor, which helped me to track the type and length of sleep so I could make some adjustments. Unlike some other reviewers, the accuracy was less important to me than the general gist of the tool. I am a recreational hiker and backpacker, and my daytime job consists of a fair bit of sitting, so keeping the general goals in view are helpful. I did meet my goal to run the 15k, and lost 20 lbs in the process thanks to being more mindful of checking all the data (steps, climb, food tracking, water tracking, and sleep) at least twice a day to keep me motivated to reach each Fitbit daily goal. As mentioned by other reviewers, I too have lost the tracker a few times due to the clip breaking or the tracker slipping out of it. However, Fitbit has been very good at replacing the tracker. Perhaps Fitbit could improve the clip so the tracker is less likely to be lost. Overall, I like using this tracker and recommend it for all around general fitness motivation and goal purposes. -

Read More I purchased one as a gift for my best friend, and then thought that I deserve the gift as much as she did, so got another shortly after. We are competitive, and use the online feature several times a day to see how we are doing. The Fitbit One is fun. It makes us go out and be active every day, and often we do more than we otherwise would have without it because we want to reach our goals. It is sturdy. She has attempted to wash hers at least once, and I have never tried to be gentle with mine. I am known for breaking things. It is accurate enough to let us know if we are doing enough moving. We both love the sleep feature and how we only have to charge it a couple of times a month. I keep mine on a clip that I attach to an eyeglass hanger around my neck because I seldom have pockets to put it in; she has hers on a thin lanyard, too, but clips it in her pocket most of the time. The lanyard is there to keep her from forgetting it is in her pocket, to make it easier to spot if it is dropped, and for an occasional wear around her neck if she is in dress pants. I have never worn a watch, so this tracker was much more appealing to me. We are three months into our Fitbit adventure, and I am grateful that I chose this model. -
May 29, 2015Weak batteryThe battery does not even last through a complete walk. Today I walked 6.6 miles in 2.5 hrs, but by time I got to the end the battery was out. I don't think that is acceptable.
