Read More I replaced a Camelbak HAWG from ~'04, it finally wore out. I bought the Volt 13LR to replace it, I really like how it stays in place on long rides and fits with the bike. But took it to Moab for a mtn bike trip. Slickrock was the first ride and kinda spun out and fell over on one of the steep climbs, the granola bar in the side pocket ripped through the side (no it wasn't a 3 year expired clif bar). The fabric is very light and thin like a tent, not a backpack. Setting the backpack on the ground during stops, wore holes in the bottom on the back side. The design of the backpack is good for mtn biking, but my multitool wouldn't easily fit in the outer pocket, the tire pump and shock pump didn't have a dedicated spot in the large opening, which is weird for a bike specific pack. I really want to like this pack but if the previous one lasted 9 years I expect the new one to do the same.
Read More Like the ideas behind the bag but wasn't happy with the weakness of the materials and lack of compression straps. I originally bought the bag for running, mountain bikeing, and doing obstacle course racing. After running a few miles during training and having the small weight bouncing in the bag I took it off. I don't like the stuff bouncing around on my back. I realized the bag doesn't have enough compression to hold it tight and to keep the gear in place. So on the way to take it back to REI and return it. I noticed small cuts on the bottom of the bag from dropping it on the ground. Um yeah that's not going to hold up in a race where Im climbing under and over things like barb wire and what not. Glad I replaced this weak sloppy bag with a osprey. The bladder is ok to remove but it's not the easiest again after using another brand I wouldn't use camelbak again. That's just me.
