Read More While in a REI store, was advised by an employee to buy these in a medium. Have used 4 times for hikes in snow. I'm 5'7 and these reach only 2 inches below the calf's narrow point just below the knee. Due to their stiffness, they don't fall completely down but they don't stay all the way up either. Have tightened but that's uncomfortable. FYI: According to REI's customer service: all sizes in women's are the same height and width as the rest of the women's gators. All the men's gators are the same height and width as the rest of the men's gators. What varies from size to size is the part that covers the top of the shoe. -

Read More I got these for a trip hiking in Scotland. I got good use out of them since I happened to go when they had flooding (and it's Scotland). They stayed on, tightened around my leg and kept my feet dry. The only time I got wet was when i stepped into bog past my knees but that wasn't the gaiter's fault. If you want to stay perfectly dry in boggy conditions, get a longer pair. But I didn't want something too long that would slow me down so these worked great. I'm a women's size 9 so I got a medium and it fits fine -

Read More Pros: Waterproof, pretty color, fit well, adjustible, sturdy Cons: Buckle for the strap under the boot just does not want to stay buckled all the way, lace hook didn't want to stay hooked either, plastic fastener at top is a bit fragile. I took these gaiters on multiple hiking trips culminating in a 40 day expedition in the Wind River Wilderness. All said, I love them! How had I ever gone through life without gaiters! Mine and those other girl who had these kind, were the only two whose gaiters did not in some way fail on this trip. Only advice, do not smack these against a rock to help dry them. That probably will break the plastic fastener. Otherwise, it held up admirably. The strap under the boot would NOT stay in place on the gaiter, meaning I constantly had a strap hanging off the side. It stayed buckled (as in fastened fully under my boot in the right spot) the entire trip but once; however, I constantly had to make sure that the strap was at least going through the second part of the buckle. It fit well with my crampons. After fording several rivers and creeks, I was quite please with the water resistance of these gaiters. The velcro stayed fastened and did not fray excessively. I did need a Medium instead of a Large (so I think they tend to run a bit big), but given how well they are holding up to my punishment, it might be quite a while before I find myself in need of a new pair. :) -

Read More They aren't the lightest gaiter on the market, but they are perhaps the most reliable. The Verglas gaiters keep your feet and calves dry, even in the soggiest of conditions. I use them for wet-weather hiking/backpacking and for alpine ascents and approaches. I keep my gaiters over my crampons as a crampon bag and I've never seen a compromise to their strength or waterproofness as a result. If you're looking for something tried and true, this is the gaiter to get.
Read More These are perfect so far. I bought them because cool colored women's snow boots aren't available in my giant size. I use these in deep snow with my men's hiking boots. They haven't let me down yet.
