Read More Well-designed and fairly priced second pair of OR gaiters-first ones lasted 20 years. These are clean, simple, improved where it needed to be (under-foot string changed to tough flat buckle-strap; two lace hooks instead of one), and let alone where it worked (simple effective top squeeze lever buckle). Well cut taper fits leg/ankle bend, very little spare fabric. Looks clean, athletic, yet not flashy. I wear gaiters all winter in Montana. -

Read More I used these gaiters while guiding hunters for elk in Colorado. 2013 was the rainiest season on record and these gaiters did the job. They are easy to put on versus my old gaiters which have back zippers. They are truly waterproof and lightweight. I thought I might be concerned with noise made rubbing together while walking, but that was not a problem. Sizes seem to run just a tad big. -

Read More I've used these gaiters for mountaineering, snoeshowing, and ice climbing. The fit seems dialed in, just like the OR Crocodiles. Breathability seems acceptable, never super breathable (not that the best Gore Tex even is), but my legs never felt particularly humid either. Overall, I was very happy with the performance of these gaiters. Durability is another story. The velcro stitching ripped during the first week, but not all the way through. It still holds and seems to have remained snow proof through, despite several more weeks of heavy use. The interior coating seems to be wearing as well. For now, it still performs well and it seems to be crampon-proof. I'll probably cash in on the warranty for a replacement at the end of the season and hope the next pair holds up better.
Read More I spent a long time in the store trying on different REI and OR gaiters when I finally decided on these based on medium stiffness and good fit with my OSLO boots. I wear a size 13 and the medium gaiters were perfect. I used recently on a 4 day excursion where I needed to wear this 100% of the time. I have pretty skinny legs/calves and I wondered if the strap on the top would pull tight enough to stay up and they did. The bottom strap going under the boot also held up well. I didn't ever get hot either and they were comfortable to wear for 10 hrs a day straight. Completely waterproof in wet snow at least.
