Apr 14, 2016OR Helium II Rain JacketGreat light-weight rain shell perfect for warm spring and summer NE weather. One defect: breast pocket pull cord came out of fastener - disappointing quality control but easy home fix

Read More This is a very well designed jacket for weight savings. By design their are no hand pockets - to save weight. Unfortunately, for me that was increasingly frustrating. In cold wet weather I need a place to put my hands or to store gear. The other reason I returned the jacket was that it wetted out every time I used it. I used Nikwax and reapplied the DWR but the jacket was never the same as when it was new. Switched to Columbia Outdry Extreme. A heavier jacket, for sure, but it breathes AND is bombproof. -
Jan 9, 2016Light weight and very effectiveBest light weight rain coat. Folds into pocket for compact storage. Keeps you very dry in a rainstorm and is breathable and looks good too.

Read More The jacket was very well made and light weight. I didn't have a chance to wear it. I ordered the jacket online using the sizing guide. I usually don't order clothing on line but I have other OR products and took the chance of a similar fit. Unfortunately the jacket was too small and I returned it for store credit. I did not try the larger size because the the jacket fit except the armpits were tight. A larger size would have been a garbage bag fit in the body. -

Read More Background: I have used this product >1 year in rains (drizzle to downpour) with temps ranging from upper 30's to 90's F. Given its compactness it's always in my bag. This is my 4th shell ever and my most expensive to date. Pros: -Keeps my upper half dry -Light/compact -Portable, loop nice to clip onto bag -Great for daily PDX bike commute, hiking, to casual -Hood fits nicely under bike helmet Cons: -Lack of ventilation although it is more breathable than some of my former ventilated shells. Caveat: I generate heat and sweat perhaps more than the average human. -Limited pockets (understandable given its svelte design). -Cold temps (can fit only a couple thin layers underneath). Conclusion: Right on! Outdoor Research, keep up the good work. -
