Read More I've been looking everywhere for a heart rate monitor that works with my Motorola Droid RAZR. It has Jelly Bean. Polar H7 and Wearlink+ are the only ones that have any kind of compatibility with the Droid RAZR line. Right out of the box this thing worked great! It paired with my RAZR right away. I was so excited that I ran around the house (to test the distance I can be away from my smartphone) and went for a bike ride (to test Endomondo, which didn't work, and MapMyFitness, which works great) and then came home and took a nap. When I woke up it was still working. So I took it off, happy with the results. The next day I was heading out for a run and the Polar H7 would not pair with my phone. I researched possible problems, I got some heart rate monitor electrode cream, I changed the battery, I tried to find the Polar Beat app that doesn't exist for the RAZR and reset my phone. It officially no longer works with my Droid RAZR. A look at the Polar website today revealed that it only works with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and even that has problems. Overall, if you manage to get the Polar H7 to work with your Android device, consider yourself lucky and run with it, no pun intended. -

Read More I bought this product to use while running, cycling, and hiking (or whatever activity the day brings). I had an iPhone 4S and learned through a little online research that it required an app to pair it to the phone. I use the Runkeeper app normally, so this wasn't a problem, it actually synced very quickly and easily (note that you have to be wearing the strap, and the sensor strap should be damp). I also tried it with MapMyRun and it connected through that as well. It worked really well for the first 4 runs, but then suddenly stopped working. It would show up as connected but wouldn't actually work. I thought it was a pairing issue that might be fixed by unpairing and re-pairing the devices. When I unpaired it, though, my phone was unable to detect the device at all and none of the apps that I tried could detect it (Polar Beat, Runkeeper, MapMyRun). I did some more online research and eventually got it to re-pair with my phone by taking the battery out and touching the two metal pieces (presumably to discharge any residual energy?). After that it seemed to work again. So bottom line, it can be a little spotty, but when it works, it works great. Last week, I had to replace my iPhone and I'm currently trying out the new Samsung Galaxy S4... Unfortunately, even though the S4 has Bluetooth 4.0, it appears that the Android software doesn't currently support the product. Polar doesn't seem to be working too hard to get the H7 up and running with Android, and there seems to be a lot of finger pointing beteen Polar and the Android folks about who's problem this is. In the mean time, there's been no headway or timeline for when anyone can expect to be able to use the H7 with the S4 or other android phones. I've seen a few posts that indicate some people have figured out a way to make it work, but I haven't been able to connect it to the S4 yet. Overall, between the pairing issues I had with the iPhone (really only a one-star dock for that because when I got it up and running, it did work well) and the fact that it only is supported on such a limited number of phones, I'm a bit disappointed with the product. I fully expected to be able to use the H7 with a brand new (and very popular) Android model, and the fact that Polar doesn't seem too driven to make this a reality seems like poor business judgement - android phones recently began outselling iPhones, so they risk losing a large marketshare if they don't push to get this resolved. If you have an iPhone, I would recommend the product, but some research is definitely warrented prior to purchasing. The instructions that come with it aren't great but there have been some very helpful posts online about how to connect and how to get it to work if it is being glitchy. If you don't have an iPhone, I'd think twice about buying it unless you are super tech-savvy and know how to make it work or until there is an official announcement that it will work with your phone. -

Read More This device does not pair with iPhone 4S. The Polar web site gives no advice at all on this. I have tried all the work arounds on various forums I could find including replacing the battery. It does still work with the stand alone Polar heart rate monitor but I could have gotten the cheaper sending unit if I didn't want the BlueTooth connectivity. -

Read More Have been limited to indoor cardio because of injury and this monitor has been invaluable in helping me get back to exercising. No difficulty pairing with iPhone apps, it's worked flawlessly and is very comfortable. My only concern is the spot where the clasp hooks onto the strap to secure it is getting a bit frayed, so we'll have to see how long that lasts. Overall an excellent exercise tool! -
May 5, 2013Works WellThis pairs perfectly with my Iphone 5. It also works with the gym equipment-automatically. All I had to do was put it on. I have mainly used it with the polar app.
Read More I use the H7 with my iPhone app Cyclemeter for my daily commute. On the weekend rides I also use my Polar RS300s watch too. This gives me at a glance what my heart rate is, and the alarms sounds if I'm over or under my workout limits.
