I have tried almost every endurance drink and have to say Cytomax (which has it's issues) is the best. -

Read More I use this mix on every ride now. At first I was afraid that I would feel the affects of too much caffiene but it doesn't create a 'buzz' but more of a constant flow. I take drinks from the bottle every 5 minutes and my legs feel great during the ride. A noticable decrease in the feeling of fatigue. I've also noticed that my recovery time has reduced after long rides as well. -
Feb 20, 2013Best Fuel I've Ever Used For A MarathonI've tried all kinds of gels; they're all too sweet, too thick, too messy and they upset my stomach. Now I mix 2 scoops of Roctane powder (a little more carbs than 2 gels) in a 20 oz bottle ...
Read More I've tried all kinds of gels; they're all too sweet, too thick, too messy and they upset my stomach. Now I mix 2 scoops of Roctane powder (a little more carbs than 2 gels) in a 20 oz bottle of water and I'm good for 8 to 12 miles. For a marathon I carry 2 extra plastic bags of powder which I mix with water at an aid station as needed. It may not be quite as convenient as a gel, but for those of us who don't tolerate gels well this is perfect, not too sweet, not too thick, tastes great.
Read More I started using Roctane after it was the provided drink on a long trail run event. It didn't upset my stomach, and it has a lighter, less sticky-sweet taste than things like Gatorade, etc. I have tried Fruit Punch and Lemon Lime. Lemon Lime is absolutely disgusting, but Fruit Punch is fine. I also encountered issues with mixing it. A work-around for this is filling your bottle half-way with room temp water, putting in the mix, shaking it well, then filling the remaining space with cold water/ice water. It provided me with what felt like a consistent stream of energy during my 2-4 hour training runs and settled better than gels for me. I'd recommend it for people doing endurance activities.
