Feb 3, 2016Better durability but not grip vs PROThese seem more durable than the Yaktrax PRO, but do not seem as grippy on the ice/pack snow. Can we somehow get the PRO design with the RUN model durability? That we be a 4/5-star product

Read More Sometimes when winter the trails in my area are a mix of mud, ice, gravel and snow. Sometimes they are all snow, and sometimes they are snow and Ice. It took my a while to figure out that trail running shoes work fine for hard-packed snow, and I am better off just using trail shoes when the trail is all snow, or when there are a lot of rocks and gravel showing through the snow, but there are times when there was a big snow that covers everything and it sticks around for long enough that sections partially melt and re-freeze and get walked or skied on so much that conditions alternate between snow and ice. These times are when the Yaktrax are great. I think they actually work best with road shoes because they sit better against the flat surface rather than creating random high points where a spring runs over the top of a lug. With the Yaktrax on the spikes in the forefoot are what give you traction on ice while the springs give traction on packed snow, so the shoes lugs aren't really doing anything anyway. It would be nice to have a set without the springs, but with the ice spikes so they could be used on dirt with patches of Ice. I am going into my second winter with these and have only had conditions where I need these for less than 100 miles of running, but they are holding up well so far. -

Read More I put in 200mi of running with these this last winter. The toe cleats worked great and would grab the ice well (minor slip on shear ice). The heel coil didn't work as well because if I hit my foot at the right angle they would act like a runner sled and cause me to slip (I run on my toes, so this wasn't too much of a problem). After 200 miles the farthest forward cleat broke off of one of them, the rubber holding in the cleat "triangle" in the front started to rip and collect rocks, and the coils broke causing them to have sharp edges. -
Feb 20, 2013No longer slipping on ice! These are great for running on ice and snow. I would highly recommend them to any runner that likes to get out in the winter and log some miles.

Read More Occasionally, I have had issues with my shoe toe slipping out the front of the Yaktrak even though they are the right size according to the chart on the box. The good news is, even if the Yaktrak slips the top strap keeps them on, but readjusting them is a little annoying. I've put less than 30 miles on them and I've noticed the beginnings of ware and tear because although the trail I run is mostly snow packed there are still rocks here and there. The manufacturer states they are not intended for use on rock and gravel which is of course common sense, but sometimes there are unavoidable patches that quickly deteriorate the rubber. -

Read More Used these a bunch of times over Christmas time in Utah. Ran on the Bonneville Shoreline trail under snow packed conditions and with about 3 inches of powder on top. Loved them! Did a !3M run in them and had good traction and control. You really don't notice them on. They never came off and getting them on is straight forward.
Read More i got these to use for the endurance societys event Frigus a 10k ish winter trek. installing them on my shoes was easy enough and at times i feel like they gave good traction and at others felt like they were just a waste. by the end of the event i had lost 2 of the carbied tips and a few others had become dislodged and were chewing up the plastic.
