Jan 9, 2016A good shoe for walking around town and hiking. These shows were a little tight but just when I started to send them back, I tried them on again and they seemed to be okay. I decided to keep them.

Read More These are really excellent hiking shoes! This past summer we were scheduled for a trip to the Scottish Highlands. I needed a new pair of hiking shoes but was cautious to buy because of the normal break-in process. I decided to take a chance with these boots and was pleasantly surprised! I normally get a size 13 (U.S.), but after trying these with medium socks, I chose a size 14 (U.S.). In all honesty, these boots needed no break-in. They provided excellent support on our walk to Cairn Gorm peak (1244 meters). The "Vibram" souls provided non-slip traction, plus comfort while traversing stones of all sizes. These shoes are also water proof, which is an important quality while walking in the "boggy" Scottish countryside. I will have to evaluate durability with continued use, but at this point they feel and look great! -
Jan 9, 2016Great ShoeThese are fantastic shoes! Extremely comfortable with support where it should be and the traction is perfect for a daily shoe in Minnesota

That lead me to believe they would not last long so I went with Vasque. They really break in well and are really comfortable and as durable as they look. -

Read More I am a Vasque fan, after first buying Wasatch which took me out of the blister and stubbed-toe world. Bought these in 2011 because I needed low-cuts. Bought size larger (11.5) than what I used to wear (my overall trend lately is to go for larger sizes than in past decades. Toes feel lose and fine with this size, while shoes overall are still tight enough. I never wear larger than either 10.5 or 11 for city shoes. Bought them (compared to Breeze low-cut, because they do not have fabric on the sides exposed to rock (as often happens in Rockies scree/talus or Appalachian). Also, area covered by harder rubber (covering the toes) is larger. Wore them for longer walks and runs in woods, then, over a period of three months in Mid-south icey winter followed by Mississippi river mud (which really, really sticks and is hard to wash off) in daily long walks (5 to 12 miles). Not a prob. Stayed dry and material was not damaged. Now, using them in snow a lot. Say, daily walks of 8 miles in snow, mixed with rough rocks, when they get covered with packed powder, followed by wet snow on the surface exposed to sun. So, snow really packs into material. Snow deep enough to need gaiters. Feet dry, even when I cheat and use potholes instead of gaiters, and snow has more than a chance to get inside the shoe (being low-cut). Not cold, not wet (in temps of about 15F to 32F. Only problem is that, after about 40 such walks on consecutive days, material does not have enough time to properly dry and it cracked on one shoe (about 3 inches long, on the outside of the right show, where suede meets toe cap, just above pinky toe), resulting also in initiation of separation of that front rubber patch. Walked couple of days even with that crack, and feet are still fine (after four or five hours out in snow). Decided to buy another pair of the same as replacement. Hope this helps you. -

Read More Awesome shoes! But...get the right size. My first pair were the wrong size and I ended up exchanging them but it seems like I still got the wrong size and I was just too embarrassed to go back and exchange them for a second time especially after using them for a year! As other reviews have mentioned the shoes do have a rather narrow toe box which should be taken into consideration when shopping for shoes. I've had these for close to two years now and I gave up on using them as hikers because of the narrow toe box and wrong size (my fault, I should have just returned/exchanged them but I really wanted to like these shoes). I now use them as work shoes because they're much lighter and more breathable than traditional work boots and I am truly impressed at the amount of abuse they can take. In addition to that the soles are one of the grippiest I've seen on hiking shoes. They would be great hiking shoes as long as they fit you right. -

Read More but I just can't. As many have stated, the toe box it too tight. Since this boot (it really is more of a boot than shoe) is so stiff (too stiff to be anything but a hiker) I feel that it will never really break in around the toe box. I would try again with a wide, but they do not exist. I like everything else about this, but it is simply too uncomfortable. If you don't consider yourself to have a wide foot you may be ok.
Read More This is a low boot, not a shoe. It has a great deal of support and feels fairly rigid (but comfortable). Like my other Vasques, it's well made and I expect it to hold up well (I've only had these a few months). The toe box is a little tight and I've switched to a slightly lighter sock to allow more room. The sole is rugged, but it's a little slippery on duck boards, wet wooden bridges and slick mud. I like these overall, but I wouldn't recommend them for around town walking. It's strictly a trail shoe for me.
