Read More We got this backpack for my then 15 month old son so he could have his own back for snacks, water bottle, or whatever else. He cannot get enough of it! He will proudly carry his own stuff everywhere and it is just the right size with room to grow. Plus the easy velcro chest strap helps keep it on, but still allow him to take it off when he wants to. -

Read More I got this pack for my 2.5 year old son and it's perfect. My 5 year old has the REI Spring 12, which is the smallest REI brand pack. That one is a little more form driven (less busy), this one is a little more fashion driven (typical North Face). This is a good size for an average 2-4 year old, but would be too small for all 5 year olds. I find sizing information on kids' packs to be somewhat spotty, which is why I'm writing this review. Good luck.
Read More I have to admit I bought this for myself, not for a child. After considering a number of different bags, I picked up a Sprout backpack from The North Face to serve as a purse—specifically, it's a great fit for my iPad in its ZaggFolio case. There's still room for a paperback book, my wallet, business cards, pens, and more. I would give it five stars if the mesh pockets on each side were a tiny bit wider and deeper, to better accommodate adult-size water bottles.
