I don't understand the negative reviews on this product. Was it more involved than regular shoe laces? Duh! But within 5 mins I had both shoes re-done and back on my feet. Original laces lasted a year and two months.
  • Barely worth the money
Thought these carry the Salomon brand and should be good as the factory original. Nowhere near the quality of the original lace and tightening mechanism. Very difficult to lossen/tighten.

I installed these on my non-Solomon skate ski boots. They were not easy to lace. But that was the fault of the boot, not this system. It was a bit difficult to snap the unit together, but not as bad as others allude to. Just get the accepting hole in the right location (push it down - tighten - with a pen or something - as far as you can) and then push the clip in place. The laces stay put. They do not loosen. They lace up quickly. I recommend nixing the final end connector together becuase it simply kept popping apart when tightening the system. Simply tie the loose ends of the laces together with an overhand knot. Great product. Only mystery is how long they will last over many seasons. I trust there will not be an issue here. And even there is a wear issue, they are not breaking my bank -- just buy another one.

I've owned many quick lace systems, and these are just the worst. They're a pain to put together (especially after someone stapled through the packaging containing the directions and ripped them) and the diagrams are terrible. Once they're put together, they're flimsy and the button is hard to use. Save your time and money and get another system instead.

My wife and I travel for months at a time in the tropics, and water shoes are a must. We've purchased the Salomon water shoes which take these replacement laces for several years, but as Salomon laces are absolutely needed in Salomon water shoes, and they WILL break over time, we must carry replacements. I know Salomon must realize this, but they also must sell lots of lace replacement kits too. I've tried my own thin line replacements, but the Salomon water shoe eyelets are so small, nother else I've found will fit. I still like the shoes, obviously, but get very irritated over my inability to use ANY standard replacement lace. Fishing line works, but it's hell to tie and untie, and on some remote Indonesian islands (as an example) there is absolutely nothing else available. If our feet were not so happy in their water shoes (which are rugged and light), I'd buy something else.

I don't know what everyone is fussing about, I installed these laces without much trouble. Took a little effort to push the clear tube through the loop on the shoe and then the doubled part of the lace loop through the shoe loop took a LITTLE effort but when all is done it wasn't too bad. They work just fine.

I use these laces to replace the regular kind on all my running shoes - in the photo they are thin, and in real life they are too, but they are super strong. The laces that come with Salomon shoes are also thin, so these are no different. They come in a super long length too, so you will end up with extra lace. You can lace them in the shoes in the normal fashion and not use the loops at the ends (I cut them off). I will say it takes patience to put them together. People complained about the hole being too small - it isn't. I found that using way less pressure works better and it snaps right in. When you get the vice grips out that's way overkill and by that time you have anger! But just fiddle with it enough and lightly snap it together and it works. I've had about 5 pairs of these so far and they work great on Salomon or non-Salomon shoes. It'd be cool if they made them in different colors, but probably a lot to ask since these are specialty item.
