Read More I love that this stove has so much power. However, for some reason, mine randomly flares up. I mean REALLY flares up to the point I am worried about catching my hair on fire. Not sure if this is just a problem with my stove, or a problem across the board with this product. I plan to exchange mine and see if a new one does the same. -
Nov 22, 2015Great for car campingThis is a great camping stove. It boils water quickly, but can also simmer.

Read More We have used this on several occasions. I love the matchless ignition, just turn the black burner knob on, push the red button, ignition. No matches, no issues with wind blowing out the flame. This stove has quite the flame for speed cooking but the one downfall is trying to adjust the flame very low, like when you want to simmer/hold the cooking temp. Sometimes I just turn the burner off and then reheat quickly if needed. Cooking grate can accommodate a large pan or over sized griddle and a small sauce pan. This grill is easy to transport, set up, clean and take down. The quality seems solid and this grill should last for a long time. Overall, I am delighted with our purchase! -

Read More I wouldn't buy this stove at any store other than REI--you might just need to return the first three stoves before you get an acceptable copy. Build quality: 1 star; Burner/Flame quality: 5 star. Poor Build Quality It's clear when you first open this stove that its build quality is extremely poor. The surface will already be dented from merely transporting it. The poor tolerance of the metal dimensions will be clear from the "crooked" feeling of lifting the top and latching it to the wind guards. The build quality is so bad I returned the first stove to REI, and seriously considered returning the second. The first one had a broken latch and the dielectric around the piezoelectric spark mechanism was seriously deformed so the spark didn't always hit the flame. It wouldn't start well. The second copy was better, but the tolerance of the metal dimensions was also visibly poor. The grate barely fit into the holes drilled for it (holes were a few millimeters too far apart). Some bending was required. The propane connection on the side was also visibly offset from the center of the hole drilled for it so the propane connection is a difficult to get on. Flame Quality / Functionality as a Stove This makes up for the poor build quality. The flame burns extremely clean and hot. It's almost as good as an indoor stove. After you get it setup, it's a great stove. Hopefully it doesn't break after two uses! :) -

Read More Purchased this stove in 2012. Have run it through about 10 fuel bottles now on car camping trips. The powerfuel burners are great for bringing a large pot of water to a quick boil. Like most large burner stoves, obtaining a simmer flame for long-term cooking is a challenge and needs monitoring to make sure it doesn't get blown out in wind. Recently the regulator started to leak through a seal. Contacted the manufacturer about how to service and they said they would just send out a replacement for free. Also like how easy it is to cleanup the stainless steel cook area. and how well this stove slots into the car between other gear items. I keep the regulator inside the stove wrapped in a piece of cloth. Like other reviewers, I wish the regulator footprint didn't require finding such a wide picnic table, but have always been able to find a way to make it work and most campgrounds and picnic areas have newer tables that are wide enough to use this on the end. Overall would purchase this same stove again for the price value and high output capability.
Read More Oven just showed up here in Taiwan. 11 days to arrive after leaving REI. (18 days after purchase... i'm not bitter) The stove is strong and solid feeling. I did have to pinch the latch loop together as it was wide enough to take off. Also, where the handle to hold the stove is (bottom of the stove) it's flimsy and unsupported. The lid and wind blocker is thicker than the usual aluminum cake tray thickness and is sturdy enough for me. I wouldn't put too much weight on the lid as it wouldn't be strong enough to withstand much and would easily buckle. Other reviewers said once the lid buckles getting the lid to close was somewhere between annoying and impossible to close. Will report back if that happens. Grill is solid and looks easy to clean. Other than my latch loop fix this stove is built like the hulk. Great stove. Glad I bought this. Another happy REI and Outdoorgearlab purchase.
