I got back after a rainy 26mile ride in the PNW and new I had water in the socks with all the splashing I could feel in the shoe. I didn't know until I got back how bad it was. I took the socks off and had to pour the water out of each one. There was 1/4-1/2 cup of water in each one. They have a very tight seal around the top and I had tights over the top of them so I can only assume the water came in through the stitching (which is already starting to split on the side)

It's November and the 'rainy season' is truly upon us -so- I shelled out [$] and was looking forward to arriving at work this morning with dry socks, and hopefully toasty toes.No chance! Despite the Gore-Tex "guaranteed to keep you dry" promise, my liner socks were soaked, my toes were frozen and I was not a happy cyclist! These are simply not waterproof.
