Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier
Yepp Mini Front Bicycle Child Carrier Video
- Child carrier is made from EVA polymer, a pliable, rubberlike material over a tubular steel frame that runs along the inside the edge of the seat
- The combination of the soft EVA over steel gives your child a comfortable ride without sacrificing support
- Child carrier attaches to the stem of your bike using a clamp that fits quill-style stems between 0.8 - 1.1 in. in diameter
- EVA material is waterproof, does not absorb heat and is very easy to clean
- Nylon straps secure your child in the seat, and a softer grade of EVA used for shoulder pads prevents chafing
- Seat features footrests that are easily adjusted to different heights without the use of tools
- The Yepp Mini Front Bicycle child carrier is designed to hold kids from 9 months (who are able to sit up by themselves), up to those weighing 33 lbs., or about 3 years old

Read More Strategically the best place for a seat. I've ridden with my son on the Yepp Mini likely over 2000 miles- Love it. In the years before my son - I was an avid cyclist riding between 5-10,000 miles a year - and never really though about a kids seats. But once my son arrived I couldn't give up cycling - the alternatives other kids bike seats put all the weigh the toward the back of the bike, making the bike less stable and harder to ride safely. - the Yepp mini make the bike More stable and fun. My son loved it from the first rides ASKING "Bike Ride", and crying if I wouldn't be taking him with me. Best part I have full visibility of the road and him while we ride and we are able to interact -talk- we spent time singing songs and learning the numbers to 20, the Alphabet song. The seat keeps us interacting and him interested (Now he says "Car back", "on your left" and all the cyclist "Speak") from the day it was safe to ride (he could hold his head stable with a helmet until today almost 2 years. The seat is rated to 33 lbs and I nearly can't imagine making him sit behind me because he's getting to the Yepp mini weight limit. I wish for a Yepp Mini Plus with a higher weight limit. -

Read More We liked the idea, really we do. We figured it had a short enough back that our 14 month old could ride close to us and would actually be ok with her helmet. In reality, it didn't fit on ANY of our 4 bikes (though we probably could have bought the 30 dollar adaptor), and the little lock "key" snapped when we were attempting to put the thing together anyway. Plus, unless you ride really upright (beach or cruiser style bikes), you're not going to be able to see over the thing, especially once you add a helmet. Since we don't, it went back. -

Read More I bought this after trying a rear bike seat, and wanting something a LOT lighter. I have a roof top bike rack, and lifting my Trek with a rear mounted seat, was near impossible. I discovered the Yepp Mini, and decided to give it a try. It's so light, I hardly notice any extra weight, unlike the rear mounted one that took a little getting used to, and balancing, during the initial start of a ride. The Yepp Mini doesn't require any balancing techniques, in my experience. The seat comes off the mount, for easy transport. I no longer have to lift my bike with a bike seat on it. The best part, is that I am close to my baby, and we have conversations, and point out things we see on our rides. So much more intimate! And my little one LOVES riding shotgun. The only con I have, is that the upper part of the straps don't secure well, as my LO can get out of them. So I have to tie the straps together in front of my LO's chest. It would be nice if they had some way to secure the chest, like a car seat. -

Read More Had used a trailer and switched to this, what a difference! Daughter loves it, and now we only use our Chariot Cougar 1 trailer when weather is bad, or on rides where a long nap is welcome. For ordinary running back and forth to school the Yepp is far better. Less drag, less length of bike, plus closer to your kid. Have mine mounted on a Yuba Boda Boda with double-kickstand so very little worry about bike falling over while getting child fastened in. Only couple small negatives. The footrests impede the turning of the front wheel past a certain point. And mounting/dismounting from my bike seat is a little unsteady due to the close proximity of the child seat. Nitpicks I can live with though. -

Read More I bought this baby bike seat for my 15 month old now that the weather is getting warmer. We ride mostly around the city in bike lanes for running errands and getting to playdates, playgrounds, or libraries. I have an old Raleigh bike that I bought secondhand. It has a step-through frame and upright handlebars. I had the bike shop install the seat for me (we did not need the adapter) and put the kid in it to ride home. He absolutely loved it. The seat is light and well-ventilated. It comes off the bike easily after I store my bike in the bike storage area of my building. I used the special key to lock the seat onto the bike so it wouldn't be stolen when I locked my bike up outside on the street briefly. Everything is pretty intuitive on the seat for adjusting it to your kid's size. My kid adores it. He doesn't hold onto the Yepp Mini handlebar though as he prefers to put his hands over mine on the bike handlebars. He also won't keep his feet in the stirrups as he prefers to swing them around while we ride (it doesn't throw off my balance at all and his legs are too short to be anywhere near the wheel spokes). I didn't have any problems with the height of the seat like other reviewers mentioned. My chest clears it easily and my arms go around it without problem. My knees do hit the bottom of the seat and I have to pedal with my knees slightly out but I got used to it quickly and it doesn't bother my legs at all even after riding for long distances. -

Read More . I have a small baby and really want to take her with me. We have a trailer but it's really heavy and I just don't need the gear. I thought a front seat would be a great option. We bought the adapter, it all went together easily. I got on the bike and found I couldn't lean forward and reach the handlebars around the seat. It digs into my chest and I'd need to pedal with my knees out a bit so They don't hit. The angle of the seat is great for the child, but takes up all the space from the handlebars back to the front of the saddle. If there was an adjustment to tilt it more upright I don't think it would move enough for me to be comfortable. I guess I may have a frame that's just too small. Super bummed. I really wanted this seat to work. -

Read More I compared this seat to other front seat options and this was the best choice for us. It is easy to install, the seat has ventilation so our toddler is more comfortable, the legs are adjustable, and the handles are easy for him to grab. If you are using a standard mountain bike, don't forget to purchase the adapter to save yourself a trip to the store.
Read More My son and I put hundreds of miles on the Mini. My wife would drop our son off at daycare with his helmet and the seat, then I'd pick him up after work on my road bike and we'd ride the 3 or so miles home. He loved it - never complaining about getting too hot or being uncomfortable. I liked having him up front so I can easily pass him snacks or a water bottle - plus it's easy to line him up so he can push the walk buttons at stoplights. That being said, this seat really isn't meant to attach to road bikes. Sure, it can, but good luck reaching the hoods and you can forget about the drops. The foot rest extensions will probably limit how much you can turn, so that's another thing to watch out for. After a year on the road bike, we set up a dedicated dad bike (Mini up front, Maxi in back) with flat bars and more upright geometry so now I can haul the 1 and 3 year old more comfortably.
