Read More I've been satisfied with my polar products in the past - the main problem here is that the instructions are so poor. I can see under "file" the total amount of time spent exercising, the average heart rate and the maximum heart rate, but what the heck does the last number mean? Nothing in the instructions explains how to use the watch - you have to figure it out by trial and error.

Read More I got this for a Christmas present and am so disappointed the packaging got thrown away. It takes forever for it to pick up my heart rate and then it says it's 40BPM when I know it's not - when it gets above 100BPM it start tracking, maybe a records it a little high...I'm not quiet sure though because it spends about 10 minutes or more on each of the functions and rarely gets to telling me my heart rate - SOOOO frustrating. If you press the one "easy" button to try to get it to scan, it stops the whole workout. What a waste of money.

Read More After less than 3 months of use, the transmitter was not sending a signal. I replaced the battery replaced and verified that the belt had a conductive connection to my skin. Still no signal. I was doubly irritated because my skin on either side of the POLAR transmitter battery holder was red and raw with a rash. Realized in reading about fixes that the belt had leaked the connective gel/fluid and caused the rash.

Read More I have an 8 year old Polar F1 that still works, but the transmitter belt has finally deteriorated (the plastic ends broke through). This FT1 is very similar, but the watch band looks suspect. I just received this, have used it two days and am concerned the "gel-rubber" band may not last. I will update over time. The one-button entries have a short learning curve and you won't regret the simplicity. After entering execute (start) you merely swipe your wrist past the chest sensor to toggle between heart rate, elapsed time and actual clock time. No buttons to push while working out! This is basic; no upload or tracking, but gives you right-now feedback of your workout intensity. The LARGE font is easy on these 60 YO eyes and preferable (to me) over the FT4/7 Polar's watch face and font size. The band is the only reason to not give it 5 stars.

Read More It's a good value, does the few things it does well. A good choice for a first heart rate monitor while you're deciding how much money to invest. The official battery replacement method is going to cost you as much as a whole new unit, so consider it disposable after a year or two of use. There are videos on replacing the battery yourself, but it may ruin the waterproofing and will definitely void the warranty.
